“Saturday Night Live” deviated from its traditional comedic cold open to pay tribute to the children and adults who lost their lives in Friday’s mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn. The program began with members of the New York City Children’s Chorus angelically singing “Silent Night.” It was the show’s lone reference to the tragic events that had transpired the day before. —Posted by Tracy Bloom.
