Fox News’ Megyn Kelly Tears Into Lou Dobbs, Erick Erickson Over Sexist Comments
Posted on May 31, 2013
Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly ripped into colleagues Lou Dobbs and Erick Erickson when both men appeared on her show Friday for sexist remarks they had made on Dobbs’ Fox Business program two days earlier.
In case you missed it, Dobbs and Erickson nearly lost it on “Lou Dobbs Tonight” on Wednesday while discussing a recent Pew study that revealed women are the sole or primary breadwinner in four out of 10 households with children. The pair agreed that the trend was a terrible one for society, while Erickson said it was basically “anti-science” for men not to play the dominant role over women in families.
“What makes you dominant and me submissive and who died and made you scientist-in-chief?” she asked Erickson at the beginning of the heated segment.
Kelly then wasted no time picking apart their arguments, bringing up numerous studies that contradicted the point Erickson made on Dobbs’ program, and also in an editorial piece he wrote for his website, Redstate, after the controversy over his comments erupted.
“I was offended by your piece,” Kelly told Erickson. “Just because you have people who agree with you doesn’t mean it’s not offensive.”
Kelly isn’t the only female anchor at Fox News who went off on Dobbs and Erickson over their sexist comments; Greta Van Susteren also criticized the two men, writing in a blog post, “Have these men lost their minds? (and these are my colleagues??!! oh brother… maybe I need to have a little chat with them) (next thing they will have a segment to discuss eliminating women’s right to vote?)”
