Watch: Chris Matthews Rips Climate Change Deniers as ‘Pigs’Posted on Oct 31, 2012
MSNBC’s Chris Matthews had some harsh words for global warming deniers after the devastation and destruction caused by superstorm Sandy. During an interview with Princeton professor Michael Oppenheimer and Rep. Ed Markey, D-Mass., in which the upcoming election was framed as a choice between Mother Nature and the Koch brothers, the host blasted individuals—including politicians and major political donors—who do not believe in climate science, calling them pigs. Said Matthews: “Back in the ’60s, we called such people pigs. Pigs. No, really. They don’t care about the planet, they don’t care about the destruction of war. All they want is what they got, their stuff, and they want more of it. Is that what we’re facing here, just greed? I’m not talking about the guy at the coal mine—that’s hard work. I’m talking about people who won’t listen to you, won’t listen to science because they want more stuff.” Oppenheimer answered by saying he wasn’t into “name calling,” to which Matthews responded, “Well, I am.”
