Video Allegedly Shows Police Beating David Silva to Death

Posted on May 15, 2013

After allegedly beating 33-year-old David Sal Silva to death last week, Kern County, Calif., officers reportedly confiscated cellphones from multiple witnesses containing videos of the incident, and in some instances were said to delete them. One piece of footage they apparently weren’t able to take away, however, is the recently released grainy black and white surveillance video below that shows parts of the encounter.

Several witnesses say they saw sheriff’s deputies beating the father of four young children with batons, and that they continued to do so even after the victim lay motionless. According to local ABC affiliate KERO, Silva was hit at least 19 times by at least three officers. The FBI has been brought in to investigate.

Although the incident can’t be seen clearly, the video is still graphic and viewer discretion is advised.
