Tiger’s Mea CulpaPosted on Feb 19, 2010
Golf superstar Tiger Woods has stayed out of the public eye since the news about his expansive infidelity scandal broke last Thanksgiving, but on Friday, an apparently penitent Woods made a brief appearance and a sober apology at a press conference before returning to continue his treatment program. Reactions to his show of contrition, perhaps unsurprisingly, were mixed. —KA YouTube: Note: The above is a partial clip of Woods’ apology speech—click here for the whole enchilada.

It really doesn’t mean anything except to maybe the corporate
hounds that hope for more tiga endorsements that hoodwink
fools into giving up their money just because a whiz at the game
of golf carries a corporate logo makes is all so senseless and
empty, just another turn from what reality is.
And for his adultery, that just means the ‘big boys’ can slip out
Report thisbut while they are slipping out, it doesn’t mean she can’t let
someone else be slipping in.

Tiger’s infidelity is between him and Elin. The fact that he will play again and be just as well liked will be a testament to American mores - i.e., there aren’t any. Anyone who says this is just a ‘mistake’ is in the same boat as Tiger - an immature, nonthinking troglodite.
Tiger’s most serious lapse of maturity was having unprotected sex with other women while he and his wife were concieving - an act that put both his wife and child at risk for STDs. That is unforgivable, but it is Elin’s call.
His televised speech was written by others, given to a friendly audience and he showed no remorse, honesty or conviction. It was done to calm corporate sponsors. For him to castigate or blame in any way the media is proof on his non-conviction to recovery.
Note to Elin - leave this trash, take all of his money and find a real man.

i do not believe
tiger woods
should be sorry
to us
he should
offer apologies
and no doubt
remuneration
to his wife
and for his wife
because he married a woman
without knowing himself
without having the honesty
to say
he would always want multiple sexual partners
and that it would better for all
if his wife were a participant
or at least present
when he did his thing
we live
in a juvenile world
of sex
where really
the most disgusting
degrading and humiliating
acts
are put up for profit
but also where eroticism
is in full tilt
where men and women
when they are single
participate in regular acts of debauchery
and joy
and physical fulfillment
and yes
sometimes it is awful
and sometimes it is deadly when done without proper consideration
but overall
it is fun and healthy
and then
we get married
and suddenly
we’re expected to only have sex with one person
for the next
what?
forty fifty sixty years
when there is sex all around us
in television shows
on billboards
on commercials
on the sidewalks
at our jobs
everywhere there are people who are sexually active
and willing to engage in a little
strange
every now and then
whether for play or for pay
no
we need to be realistic about our sex lives
the sexual revolution wasn’t just for singles
it was for all of us
and as disgusting as much of porn is
that filth is a result of our inhibitions
by barring all but the most gauzy sex scenes from Hollywood mainstream movies
we put sex in the gutter
where ancient cultures
say it belongs
and so it goes
from the gutter to the closet
think of the movement to get gays out of the closet
and how uplifting and important it was to the gay community
how it helped them combat disease and suicide and isolation and discrimination
well
there are people all over america
who
cheat
on their spouses
and their spouses
cheat
on them
and it is awful
how much better it would be
if the word
cheat
were removed from the lexicon
and replaced with
play
they play with their spouses
while their spouses play with others
as it stands now
we have had the sexual revolution
and we have had puritanism
and both
are still alive and well
battling each other
and as with all wars
the most numerous casualties
are civilians
tiger is just the latest casualty
Report thishigh profile
a bellwether perhaps
of what’s in store for the rest of us
if we don’t start being honest
with our selves
and with our sexual partners
about our sex lives

There is something very seriously wrong in the US. As a professional golfer everything to do with his golf can be criticized, but what has his sex life got to do with it? It’ something between him and his wife and no one else. The same applies to politicians. Imagen a company selecting their directors on their sex lives! What hypocrisy!

I agree, but I also can’t stand the ‘corporate sanctioned’ or
should it be the ‘corporate anointed’ game of golf itself where a lot of the worst and most detrimental plans have been hatched, of what has nothing to do with the people who AIN’T in that exclusive club, creating the crises and financial disasters that are now inflicting this country.
As fo po oh tiga, it is almost like he was caught masturbating
and then having exposed all those hairs in his hand from
previous episodes and now he seems it necessary to go into a
religion, buddhism I think, to learn how to pray 20 times a
night so god will forgive him.
Truly a pitful and disgusting world corporate clubs have

purposes.

hello. i agree with many here. this was a corporate statement of surrealism. we have two other words for it. B…S…! what a baby. he is scared about corporate contracts. he lets them put words in his mouth. he could have been somebody. he could say my wifey plays so many head games, or doesn’t show me the level of compassion i deserve, or i liked the way this one does it over that one, or anything; but this cow towing to corporate interests: his nut sack is really tied to something other than proving himself on the golf course. he has traded his love of the game for what is best for his greedy families. he will never be a man of conviction, only a game playing liar for profit. go back to rehab for further corporate propaganda programming, you baby.

I can’t understand why he was given national tv
Report thiscoverage to read his so called remorse. I believe
it has something to do with the Professional Golf
Association. They want him back because he brings
an audience and big bucks to golf. Once again,
like our beloved politicians, it’s all about the
money. Speaking of money perhaps Tiger should donate
about half his money to charity. Fame and fortune.
It’s ruined many people.

Surreal hypocrisy brought to a new low of exploitation. Sick for sure—media,
that is. Like rich men having more than one woman in tow is some bizarre
offense! Why Tiger! Was he trying to expiate for all the others? The King is
dead! Long live the King! What was really going on here? Now let’s have the
banksters out there apologizing for all the money they stole last year?
And who, for Pete’s sake, were all those PEOPLE lined up on chairs who felt they
must witness this poor rich fallen angel baring his soul—not once, but several
times again and again— in the picture broadcast internationally? Tiger didn’t
even look like himself. What have they done to him? Pasty-faced and in
another world somewhere.
It reminded me of Japan. I expected him to commit hara kiri at any moment—
Report thiswhile the crowd roared for more! Sick, as I said before! This is American
entertainment? Sport? Religiosity? Values? Yuck!

It seems, this is a new level of hypocrisy; something what we would have to get used to.

Today I hit the boiling point. CBS interrupted my
beloved The Price Is Right with Tiger Woods. I fired
off the following e-mail to CBS. I don’t expect a
response:
Mimi—-Hope things are going well. I am the retired university professor who contacted you last June concerning why DISH did not
carry CBS in High Definition. I am pleased to see they are now doing so. I was hoping to watch Price Is Right today but it was
interrupted for coverage of Tiger Woods statements. Times are bad for many people in America. Many choose to watch The Price
Is Right as a temporary escape from their problems. I am curious why CBS would cover Mr. Woods statements. They would seem
more appropriate for The Golf Channel and/or ESPN. Do you know why CBS chose to do so? Thanks for any assistance. I am
a Psychologist and interested in rationales people use for certain behaviors.
Report thisP. S.——Tiger could have saved a lot of time and energy by simply saying, “I’m sorry I got caught.”

Shades of OJ, Mr D.R.Zing, I couldn’t agree with you more.
Who, besides Mrs. Tiger Woods and her lawyer should care about what Tiger Woods does.
Sensationalism at its best.

The apology I wish Tiger would have made:
My dear Puritans. I enjoyed screwing all those women. I will go to sexual rehab and the lesson I will learn is that next time I will screw paid professionals who know how to keep their mouths shut.
My only regret is that we live in an age of media-enforced Puritanism coupled with the most awesome porn in the history of humanity. If I had my way, my wife would have been right there with me, either sporting a strapon and giving me a hand, or keeping time with another big man.
I hate you all.
Good night and go screw yourself.

Too bad, but I don’t care. Nothing he does with his private life affects me. What he does for the PGA does. All super stars in any vocation affect people they don’t know. The target should be to do it positively. On a small scale, and less important, the more he accomplishes as a super star pulls more money into more people’s pockets but not mine. The PGA, the other golfers, the equipment manufacturers, the golf courses, the wholesale & retail shops, and more including the medical community who will treat more people not in shape to participate on an increasing level. Everybody wants to be Tiger! Not me, I just don’t care. His private life he has to live with and I don’t want to hear about it. Most people have their own problems that nobody wants to hear about either. So, leave the super stars be and let’s put out time into making this a better place to live.

Imagine if a black man found out his famous white wife was cheating on him and
