This Attack Ad Cannot Be RealPosted on Oct 14, 2010
The founder and publisher of the Political Wire,Taegan Goddard, wonders if this attack ad isn’t the best of all time, and it may be, but it also feels like something that aired between segments of “Saturday Night Live.” Only this is funny. There have been a couple of iterations of this “ad”. One claimed to be sponsored by “Concerned Pediatric Orthodontists”.
It’s satire. Canadian political advertising has not yet sunk to the level of the incessant attack ads seen in the US, although we do have a neo-con Prime Minister who seems to envy American political culture and is pushing hard in that direction.
Ironically, Michael Ignatieff, leader of the opposition Liberal Party was attacked for being “foreign”. He was painted as unworthy of Prime Minister’s chair because he spent many years teaching at Harvard (in a foreign country, so he couldn’t possibly share our values). Despite his Canadian citizenship, I’m sure he’s just back here to father some American Terror Babies.
There are lots of American imports to love. The politics of fear and division is not one of them.

Unbelievable… well actually, very believable.
Whatever it takes… how low is too low?
Murder?
Extortion?
Flat Out blatant media manipulation?
New lows are always found.
