For roughly two hours, acclaimed filmmakers Steve James and Alex Kotlowitz give us a deep and intimate glimpse into the persistent epidemics of violence in America’s inner city black communities. The title of the program, “The Interrupters,” refers to the small, community-organized groups of adults with gang histories who try to get between frustrated and helpless black youths and the violence that often takes their lives. —Posted by Alexander Reed Kelly.
