Jon Stewart and company missed an eventful week during their recent hiatus, but they’re back just in time for the Republican National Convention. And also to talk about the most important issues of the campaign.

So based on what Romney “wants” to talk about, that excludes business, taxes and family. Guess that leaves us to discuss Todd Akin and vaginas. Yes, that’s right—it may have been a week late, but Stewart finally addressed Todd Akin’s comment that women rarely become pregnant if they are legitimately raped (whatever that means) because “if it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down.”

According to Stewart, that’s just science. And what’s more, science has demonstrated that the vagina has other powers. “Did you know that the human vagina, besides being able to repel rape sperm, can be used as a Wi-Fi hotspot?” Stewart said the vagina can also detect radon and carbon monoxide, and convert standard DVDs to Blu-rays (according to his understanding anyway).

Whoa! Someone needs to tell Akin these “facts” stat! Because he’ll probably actually believe them!

But the real story is the media’s coverage of the GOP Missouri Senate nominee and specifically, according to Fox News, how tough the liberal media has been on him.

“Oh, if only that poor man had one of those magic vaginas to protect him!” Stewart said. “He could have repelled the media!”

If only, indeed.
