Taliban Suicide Attack Kills 19, Including 5 AmericansPosted on May 18, 2010
The Taliban has claimed responsibility for a suicide bombing Tuesday that targeted a U.S. convoy in Kabul, killing 19 people and marking the deadliest day so far this year for American troops in Afghanistan. In addition to the bomber, the dead included five Americans. Tuesday was also the day the death toll among U.S. forces in Afghanistan passed the 1,000 mark. Sorry to butt in again but I forgot to mention that amongst the 19 murdered by the Taliban in Kabul yesterday, along with the 5 Americans, was a Canadian soldier… full Colonel Geoff Parker, former commander of Camp Gagetown, New Brunswick, who was in Afghanistan to consult and then take over important development work for the people. He was Number 145 of Canadians killed in this idiotic and endless conflict.
My opinion: we have NO BUSINESS even being there.

What a quandry. If I were the American Commander-in-Chief I really wouldn’t know whether to pull every last American armed forces person out of the country immediately, and leave the Afghanis to sort out their own problems, or put every available American armed forces person into the country with whatever tactical/weapons support would be necessary to wipe the known Talibans from the earth.
I think I’d do the former… and right now. Notify the Afghan government and pull out completely.
Let the chips fall where they may.
