Romney Ad Strikes at Obama’s Sore Spot

The economy will be President Obama’s biggest bugaboo, no doubt, as he makes his play in 2012 to remain in the White House. Here we have one of his Republican rivals, Mitt Romney, pointing this out via a campaign ad.

Specifically, Romney’s ad goes after Obama about the nation’s truly scary unemployment problem, laying it on thick with images of jobless Americans holding signs telling stories of their struggles. Over to you, Team Obama.  —KA

Definitely a fair ad and timely.

If I was Obummer, I’d come out swinging pointing out the outsourcing and that he can’t be trusted, as in denying his own health care plan as a governor.

This is offered as free political advice, and does not have any effect upon my decision made some time ago not to vote for B.O. again, no matter what.

You now see how american politics works. You are ultimately blamed for the transgressions of you predasessor. In Prez Barry’s case that is only half right. Yes, the great american recession(depression)was caused by ol’ GW, but Barry had all the momentum and the power of the bully pulpit. He could have affected REAL change in america. But alas, he has proven to be just another gutless, sniveling, democrat, who still falsely believes that our “system” can be changed from within. Or is it just that he is or has always been in the pocket of the corporate oligarchs and believes that the “free market” that put us into this mess will eventually save us all. Either way, he is wrong. And that’s bad news for us, ‘cause the repugs don’t have a candidate that can beat him, and the Dimmos don’t have the guts to challenge him.

Is anybody in Canada hiring?

Obviously Obama didn’t create the situation depicted, but the genius of the ad is exposing ‘the hidden Republican’ in Obama.

This ad is aimed at on-the-fence Democrats.  The people in the ad are tradition Democratic constituents that Obama has thrown under the bus and spoken callously about.  The ad exposes how out of touch Obama is with his own constituents.

Can someone help me out here? As a Canadian looking in,
what did Obama actually do to create the mess that the
Republicans seem to think he is responsible for?  From
what I can tell, your economic problems were not
started by Obama..he inherited these issues as a legacy
of both Clinton and Bush Jr.  The other thing I don’t
get is that the Republican free market zealots and
their avarice want to continue down the road with less
regulation and cut programs that benefit many to give
tax cuts to the rich. My head hurts trying to
rationalize this.

Great propaganda. The Nazis would be creaming their pants if they had this sort of technology back during the big war. As powerful as the images are, they really aren’t a reflection of anything the current administration has or hasn’t done. In fact, if anyone is DIRECTLY responsible for people losing their jobs, just go back and look at how Romney himself got rich: he has the pink blood of downsizing all over his finely tailored suits.

Folks, the very “free enterprise” system that Romney so believes in is, by its very nature, the cause of unemployment not Obama. If the government is totally controlled by corporate lobbyists, this isn’t the president’s doing.

American corporations are sitting on $2trillion in cash that they do not want to invest in new plants, equipment, and jobs.

There is not enough demand (i.e. spending) in the economy to justify putting this money to work.

What is the Republican plan? Cut spending to boost spending.  Do people who can understand the basic structure of an English sentence really believe the Republican plan won’t make things worse?

Remember it was Republican Senator Olympia Snowe who was so proud of her self for eliminating some of the money from Obama’s stimulus plan.  She cut the dose of the medicine to fix the economy and then complained that the medicine didn;t work as well as she had hoped.
