O’Reilly Defends DeGeneres, Ellen Chimes In

Once in a while, Bill O’Reilly strays from the expected Fox News formula and surprises us with his politics, as he did in this clip from Monday’s “O’Reilly Factor,” in which he compares the bid by the conservative women’s group One Million Moms to boycott J.C. Penney for picking Ellen DeGeneres as its spokeswoman to McCarthyist witch hunts of the ’50s. Because members of the LBGTQ community also have the right to become corporate shills in this, our great nation.  —KA

Update: DeGeneres herself weighed in about the J.C. Penney controversy on her own show, “Ellen,” on Wednesday. That clip follows O’Reilly’s below.

What is important for liberals in this O’Reilly example is he argued a LIBERAL point from a CONSERVATIVE position.  The king of the red herring even kept the opponent from redirecting.

My point, if the progressive defenders in the media or around the dinner table would consider arguing from the point of “how this benefits YOU the conservative for reasons that are already granted then there is “another chance” to make the point. Here are two concrete examples.

1) The hobgoblin socialism (centralization of the means of production) is displayed whenever any public benefit is mentioned. My father and I talked and he began to repeat his Fox fallacies. I mentioned that he has a pension from the Teamsters who were called socialists. Mom uses Medicare and both draw Social Security. Dad uses the VA Hospital. I pointed these things out saying “Let’s get clear which one of us is the socialist!” Wherein, he ceded with profanity. He then remarked that before the Teamsters we (truckers) had nothing.

2) Don Young called those who supported the Endangered Species Act —“waffle stomping socialists out to destroy the constitution”

REALLY, all those hunters, fishermen, and commercial interests who understand the importance of wild lands and wetlands etc. could all be out to destroy the constitution. Yet I don’t see how it will benefit them or their cause. If they destroyed their own right to free speech or due process they could not protect themselves let alone animals. Perhaps there is another explanation.

Mr. Young what the hell do fish other wildlife have to do with a policy of central control of the means of production aka Socialism?

Just shows you that even a psychopath like O’Reilly can be right once in a while.

Those idiots have taken on the wrong woman this time. Ellen is smart, articulate and funny. Bad move, million moms who are not even a million moms. Why do conservatives lie about EVERYTHING? Even things they don’t need to lie about? I suppose it’s because they think reality is a slogan and the truth is whatever they say it is.

J C Penny’s is an equal opportunity employer.  To
demand that they fire Ellen for her sexual orientation
would be on par with demanding they fire one of their
warehouse workers because he’s homosexual.  Not only is
this an idiotic stance to take, any action taken on J C
Penny’s part would most likely be illegal.
