Obama to Gadhafi: ‘All Attacks Against Civilians Must Stop’

In this speech from the White House on Friday, President Obama laid out what Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi must do in order to avoid “consequences,” thus far in the form of a no-fly zone, from the international community.

“That means all attacks against civilians must stop,” Obama said. “Gadhafi must stop his troops from advancing on Benghazi, pull them back from Adabiya, Mistrata and Zawiya, and establish water, electricity and gas supplies to all areas. Humanitarian assistance must be allowed to reach the people of Libya. Let me be clear: These terms are not negotiable.”

Obama also spelled out what the U.S. would not be doing in response to the Libyan crisis. The Associated Press has more from the president’s speech below.  —KA

Forget Fox News, Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity.
Barry Hussein needs to blame the mainstream media for his sinking popularity. In the age of citizen journalism and instantaneous, global communication he should have realized that all of the msm’s high-flying exaltation would come back to bite him in the you-know-where. Mr. ‘I won’ never had the intellectual or Machiavellian chops to rise to the level of the media’s glorification.
Playing at fascism, the propagandists forgot they needed a Mussolini to execute the plan after the victory. If Obama thinks his conservative opponents treat him “like a dog ” it’s only because they’re following the lead of the growing number of American people who realize they’ve been suckered. The near canonization of the “Anointed One” Barry Hussein Soetoro by MSNBC, CNN, the New York Times and magazines like The New Yorker before the ’08 election is now giving way to reality, and it’s not pretty.
If the sale of Barry paraphernalia is any indication of the president’s current status, the future does not look hopeful. From the Washington Post:
The change in Obama’s political fortunes led Tini Cherkaoui, manager of Discount Souvenirs and Novelties in the District, to alter her inventory. The merchandise touting hope and “Change We Can Believe” has been replaced by items taunting those themes.
“It used to be that anything Obama — it was just hot,” she said, as a group of tourists wearing anti-Barry T-shirts milled around on the sidewalk. “Now, they’re just against Barry.”

I was just going to say, Robespierre115, WHAT HYPOCRISY! Who is this man,
Obama? What in the hell is he doing?

The man’s ordering killing of civilians—sorry, “collateral damage”—in Pakistan
and Afghanistan, and here he is with this stuff?

Shame on him, shame on his crew. (Indeed but for Crowley, forced out like a gangster out of a gang.)

But then this President also said fallout falling on my house at the moment
won’t be a problem. We’ll know more about that as decades go by, or a lot
sooner. (As Wasserman noted this morning, the government ought be
dispensing Iodide pills, evidently no longer available. Yeah, this is the real deal,
and not all-too-common hysteria.)

Any concern for “civilians” is the last thing on the minds of authorities—here or
there—while spouting propaganda is an obvious, and usually effective,
necessity. Here’s a fine example of that.

Libya but not Bahrain. This doesn’t even make sense by officialdom’s twisted
logic.

Beyond the fallout, which I can’t smell, I think I smell profits.

At least not until Monday morning. When this person says this,
he’ll be wheeling and dealing as soon as he gets back to his
playhouse.

Obama better have the French and British enforce the no fly zone.

The U.S. can’t drop a bomb or send in a drone without killing a bunch of civilians.

What a hypocrite. Meanwhile the Saudis and UAE invade Bahrain and help in the rutheless repression there. On Friday a teacher was also killed during protests in Honduras by a fascist coup regime that overthrew an elected government under Obama’s watch. This just shows how Obama is just another joke in our imperialist history.
