Obama and Gay Marriage: Currently ‘Grappling’Posted on Feb 23, 2011
Is it really that politically risky to state unequivocally that one supports gay marriage if one happens to be the president of the United States? Maybe, or maybe President Obama truly is “grappling” with his own stance on the issue, as fresh-faced new White House spokesman Jay Carney explained Wednesday. —KA AP via YouTube: Advertisement Previous item: ‘Daily Show’: Revenge of the Curds Next item: ‘Daily Show’: Story Time With Donald Rumsfeld New and Improved CommentsIf you have trouble leaving a comment, review this help page. Sherry Ackerman said: “I really don’t think that being President of the United States and supporting gay rights are exclusive.”
True, they are not exclusive
“Aren’t gays and lesbians also citizens of the United States of which he is President?”
Also true
“Marriage is not religious. They are dozens of examples of secular marriage. Where is the issue?”
The issue is found in one word: law. A law Passed by the United States Congress, signed by a President. A law called the Defense of Marraige Act and it was passed in 1996.
The President has now declared that law unconstitutional. Am I the only one who finds it curious that our Executive Branch functions as our Supreme Court today?
What this boils down to is that our “President and Supreme Court Justice” rolled into one Barack Obama, will not defend the law which he swore to uphold.
Ah, but whats an oath… when you are a Progressive? whats a responsibility… when you mean well? and what is the Presidency itself… when you need to get yourself reelected?
Thats the issue, Sherry Ackerman.

Ojama wasn’t too busy to take time away from pending free trade agreements with three countrys to apear like he realy gives a shit about gays.
First there is ramming that free trade agreement for South Korea through congress, that will cost this country 150,000 jobs…
Next up free trade agreements for Columbia, and Panama…
Does anyone doubt that Ojama is president of Bush’s third term?

The New Democrats, the Business Democrats, passed NAFTA, emasculated Glass Steagall, refused to prosecute the Wall Street fraudsters who caused the meltdown of 2008, expanded George Bush’s war policies…and decided not to enforce the Defense of Marriage Act. Real Leftists, who have been openly shocked at Obama’s betrayals of the Left, including Glenn Greenwald, are now gushing with support for him. This is how the American Left has been bought off since Jimmy Carter. Give way entirely to the big money guys and warmongers, and take a spirited stand on social issues like abortion and gay marriage. I don’t care one way or the other about abortion and gay marriage. I care about how our country has been devoured by corporations. The Dems devotion to social issues is a red herring to prevent the emergence of a political party that will actually take on the corpocracy. The viability of the American nation does not depend on whether we allow abortion or gay marriage. It depends on whether we can seize our government back from the corporations.
