Obama: ‘I’m Open to Every Demonstrably Good Idea’ About Job Market

Posted on Dec 3, 2009

President Obama laid out what he believes his administration has been doing to deal with the employment crisis in America thus far and hinted at forthcoming developments in his plan to create more jobs. During a press conference Thursday he tried to take some of the heat off his administration by stating, “Ultimately, true economic recovery is only going to come from the private sector.” Vice President Joe Biden nodded sagely in agreement behind him.  —KA

Here’s a “good idea.”  Start calling “the job market” by its real name….the “global” wage/debt-slave auction, with its own “job” of bidding DOWN the value of “labor” as low as it can be forced to go.  Maybe getting all this exceptionalist smoke blown up their arses kind of tickles “....your huddled masses,” first.  They’ve gotta be starting to “feel the burn” of a royal reaming, though, if all the weeping-and-wailing is any indicator.

There is no help coming for the captives from their captors….only more cleverly metered misery.  It is their “individual”-ity that renders them effectively paralyzed….like insects stung and enmeshed in webs.

Even these things, however, cannot prevent those who would escape, into the viable alternative of genuine living Human community, from doing so.  There is no way the tormentors can keep Human Beings from taking care of each other, so they run their “global” distraction device hoping their two-legged livestock won’t catch-on until it’s too late….which it maybe almost is.

This old Savage isn’t just “whistlin’ Dixie” here, tame Sisters and Brothers.  It’d be better for you to quit all those “jobs,” and to get to work together cleaning-up the terrible mess you’ve been so instrumental in making of all our Living Arrangement.

Obama is channeling famous Republicans again ....

“Economic depression cannot be cured by legislative action or executive pronouncement. Economic wounds must be healed by the action of the cells of the economic body - the producers and consumers themselves. - Herbert Hoover”

““Ultimately, true economic recovery is only going to come from the private sector.””

<the statement continued ...>
Because we took all your tax money and gave it to them.  Better give them a call and see if they can spare a dime.

Everyone I know on Wall Street is just so nice.  I’m sure they’ll give you money if you call them.  Why, just this morning I was doing just that for the 2010 campaigns, and everyone on Wall Street was just so generous to us.

I don’t know how anyone can be poor when all you have to do is to call Wall Street and they’ll gladly give you ten or twenty million.  It certainly has worked for me.

The top 20% of earners spend 50% of the money.“the Economy’‘’ does not benefit
much from low paying jobs or poor people other than to use and discard them .
“the Economy’’ needs high unemployment so the Army has a large pool to meet its
recruiting goals for our escalating wars . ‘the Economy’’ has been busy this past
year making the rich even richer . The Rich have kept their yachts, jets, drugs, car
collections, surgeries, multiple mansions, rare art, divorces ,
thousand dollar hookers and we are all paying for it.
Capitalism is great for those at the top and   insecure and miserable for the
powerless and struggling at the bottom .Taxing and regulating Cannabis would free the minds of millions of Americans and potentially create a saner and safer world . Less judgmental and most importantly, Less Materialism and celebrity warship .

Sergio: yes, please, God!  That was the point of my post, that Obama is talking about how we’re saving the world from terrorism—and he may believe that to some extent, though it’s insane—but the unemployment that would result from winding down the War Machine would almost guarantee a return to recession.  Think about it, two hundred billion more and counting pumped into the economy.  If he suggested an infrastructure program spending that much on bridges and roads, people would have a shit hemorrhage: socialism!!  Jobs programs like FDR!  Boo!  Hiss!  But cloak your jobs program in national security, use fear to sell it, and you’ve got yourself ten percent unemployment instead of twenty.  It’s cynical and evil, but I do believe it’s part of Obama’s calculus in keeping this ridiculous war alive.

Trade tariffs, yes! so outsourcing will mean loss, not profits for the corporations.
Re: JimBob. Could we create more jobs without killing Afganis, getting our soldiers killed and enriching numerous war profiteers in the process?

Every simple item in our lives that is now made overseas is the direct reason why 10 percent of America has no job.Global trade is a wonderful thing, but protecting our own econmy with realistic trade tariffs that LEVEL THE PLAYING FIELD are necessary. The middle class has been effectively destroyed.Watch out people, another “terrorist attack” will probably happen soon to bolster support for 30,000 more boots on the ground in Afghanistan

Talk about public sector jobs creation!  It will cost many, many billions to continue occupying Afghanistan, but does anyone think those billions are going to be raked into a pile and set on fire? That they are all going into the pockets of Afghanis? News flash: those billions are going into American businesses, mostly if not all defense contractors, who employ hundreds of thousands of Americans, in jobs that span every state of the Union. It’s one giant government jobs program—the biggest ever.
Obama doesn’t believe for one moment that we are going to turn Afghanistan into Denmark, but he damn well knows if the economy doesn’t improve he’s toast in 2012. A hundred billion or two pumped into the economy under the cynical guise of preserving “...the security of our allies, and the common security of the world,” will do a lot to keep the unemployment numbers from going to twenty percent just as the next presidential campaign gets rolling.  Getting out of Afghanistan and winding down the War Machine—probably the course Obama would personally prefer—would throw Americans into the streets in numbers that guarantee a one-term presidency.

“Everyone at the table.”  Didn’t we hear that on health care reform?  I guess he’ll take the same kind of leadership role as he did on health care reform, too—the disappearing/reappearing Obama, popping up here and there to give speeches and/or staged town halls.  It that what’s next for jobs?  Staged town hall meetings?

There he goes again.  We’re being played.  Again.

He, his merry band of millionaires (every cabinet member is a millionaire), and Michelle Antoinette all owe their allegiance to the globalist elite.

They’ve done nothing and will do nothing to save the American middle class, the American way of life.

Yeah, you magical president, YOU have to bring the financial sector under control
before anything like the ‘private’ sector(meaning the private corporations or the
poor blokes who cannot start a small business or find ‘living wage’ jobs?) can turn
‘ITSELF’ around!!!!.

Fish and visitors smell in 3 days and goddamn the stench is nye well unbearable
so please find some deodorant or disinfectant!!!!

Obama is owned lock, stock and whiskey barrel by the very people who want no such jobs recovery.  He’s for anything - as long as it (1) actually doesn’t work and (2) passes muster with his financial masters.

How can this White House give trillions to the banks and to Wall Street, money that has demonstrably been used to continue the casino gambling that banks and the Street were involved in, and to grant obscene bonuses, while being indifferent to Main Street.  A ‘jobs summit?’  Please.

Note how fast Obama went for Hank Paulson’s demand for hundreds of billions of TARP funds.  There wasn’t a ‘banks summit’ conference.  Obama via Geithner just opened the door to the money and Goldman Sach’s Paulson walked in and took it all.  But for Americans who are unemployed, foreclosed, bankrupt, living in the woods, well, there is no answer but a jobs summit with Disney, Fed Ex, Comcast, and others from banking and the corporate sector.  No one from small business, even though Obama said it was SB that was at the heart of job creation.  Small business—-which will be hit with mandates to provide health insurance ‘or else.’

Insanity, not common sense, inhabits the White House, Treasury, and the Fed.  Bernanke wants to take Social Security and Medicare money to further bail out his cronies.

We need a common sense White House, not the crony capitalists that reside there today.  Look out 2010 and 2012—-it will be time for common sense in Congress and at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue—-not the Harvard club that resides there today.

“Let me be clear…”

We have no money for jobs. Isn’t that what he said?

Or, did he really say anything?
