President Obama came out swinging in his weekly address on Saturday, claiming that his administration has been pushing to help small businesses grow and strengthen the economy and blaming Republican leaders for thwarting his efforts: “ ... Too often the Republican leadership in the United States Senate chooses to filibuster our recovery and obstruct our progress,” Obama charged, “and that has very real consequences.” It probably won’t be long before he hears back from the GOP about this one.  —KA

I do not understand Barack Obama well at all.

He allows himself to take all the insulting comments made toward him by Republicans.  There were people that insulted George W. Bush, I know.  However, there is no way that George W. Bush would have allowed this level of treatment.  Perhaps Obama should just say, “You are either with me or against me” or “I speak for the USA society and if you disagree with me, you are a blemish to it.”  Use some of their tactics against them but on a whole new systematic level.

Barack Obama can give conservatives a REAL history lesson, instead of allowing conservative pundits in a 24-hour time frame to falsify and distort it by not using the Patriot Act.  I want these people to disappear, as it were, Mr. President!  Conservatives, based on empirical evidence for the last 50 years or so, have demonstrate that their ideology and the GOP platform have done more harm than good both worldwide and in the USA.  In addition, there ideas have cost the USA trillions over time as well as the being the cause of global unrest and financial meltdowns.

Mr. President, instead of ummmm… offering olive branches to obstructionist treasonous traitors such as to BOTH conservatives and Republicans; why not adopt some Stalin-like policies and/or use their creation, The Patriot Act, against them and classify these actions at the highest levels.  Make them disappear.  In other words, do a political cleansing!  They deserve it.  If George W. Bush administration can get away with invading foreign countries and racking up all of this foreign debt - so should your administration in your methods of punishing conservatives and Republicans for their already proven dangerous ideas.  Both conservatives and Republicans are a domestic threat - much more dangerous than any illegal immigrant or terrorist on the other side of the world.

After all, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you” would take on a whole new meaning in this instance.  Republicans have jailed left-wing ideologues in the past just for being so: you are able to take this one step further, since you are the President of the USA.  Just make them disappear.  The more the merrier!  Yeah…I am serious.

Would you not want to punish them for how they treat you as well as misleading the USA populace into invading other nations under the previous administration?  Not to mention running this all completely on credit?  I mean…wow!  Right wing advocates really f-d up the USA society, Mr. President, for a very long time.  They continue to do so today in creating mean-spirited, divisive wedge issues at the state and local levels like in Arizona.  Now, these same conservatives and Republicans have the gall to feign short-term memory problems while simultaneously offering so-called “solutuions” to what THEY ultimately created (THIS MESS!) by doing the same thing.  Does insanity mean doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result?

What did you think was going to happen, Mr. President?

Did you think that the plutocracy, was going to just let you waltz in and destroy 40 years of graft?

Or maybe you did know, but were unwilling to use reconcilliation to end it all. Your reasons for this are unclear.

It seems to me that you were more than a little naive, about bi-partisanship.

As Mao said, if you want to make an omelette you have to break some eggs, but it seems to me that your unwilling to break any eggs or even step on any toes.

What we need is a sledge hammer.

People are suffering while you complain about those nasty Republicans?

What’s stopping you from kicking some ass, instead of just whinning? I’d like to know.

The donkey edge, do we really need any more proof that conservative economics don’t work? There was this thing called the Global Financial Crisis and this other thing called The Great Depression which seem to me to prove the case conclusively.

Conservatives never cease to amaze.
All we need is to return to those thrilling days of Reagan and Bush, deregulate, lower or eliminate corp taxes, privatize existing government services. Just like slavery, supply-side economics just needs a few more years to succeed. Just because it drove our collective plane into a fucking mountain doesn’t mean it can’t still work. Our corporations need to be free from the burdens of citizenship so that they can thrive and make us all rich!
How much longer can we be expected to chew on this neo-con bullshit? It didn’t work, get over it.

As for prez Barry, he is a gutless turd. Instead of doing the right thing, he still looks to copitulate to the minority party. You know, the party who’s failed ethos got us in the mess we are in now. He should have known that, whatever he was going to do, the neo-cons in the nation would scream “socialist” so he might as well have gone balls to the wall on single payer health, raising taxes, and the re-regulation of the finance and defense industries.
We needed FDR, we got Calvin Coolidge.

This is leadership? This is Hope and Change? I voted for this guy? WTF was I thinking?

Extending UI will not “jump start the economy”. It may keep it from getting worse, slightly. Make a deal, Mr President. Offer to knock 15 or 20% off the weekly benefit rate. Offer to continue UI at 40 or 50% to people who are willing to take low wage jobs (temporarily).

Extending loans and credit to small businesses will not help in this environment. The bottom line is, if people are not buying the goods and services from small businesses, they have no reason to hire new workers.

Businesses and individuals are over-leveraged. They are suffering from too much credit and borrowing. People borrowed against the equity in their homes, against their 401(k)s and pensions, and ran up huge amounts of credit card debt. Big businesses used their assets and future earnings as collateral on loans for mergers and acquisitions, and to expand to support the unsustainable borrowing and consumption of the populace.

If Obama’s answer to the struggling economy is extending UI benefits, and loaning to small businesses, we’re all really screwed.

The entire Obama enterprise is suffused with a gloomy aura of despair, contrasting strongly with
the “hope and change” rhetoric of the campaign. The primary theme of his presidency is
government’s lack of faith in its citizens. Free people cannot be trusted to handle anything
important without tight government controls. This attitude of condescension is coupled with a
simply staggering degree of incompetence, as billions of dollars are stolen and wasted, to little
effect. Anyone still trying to tune in the signal from this administration is hearing the most
depressing funereal dirge: your lives are futile without the command and control of a government
that cannot even handle the guest list of a White House state dinner. No wonder anyone taking
those signals seriously is feeling enervated, and at least a little bit crazy.
