The Sapling Foundation’s TED Conferences have taken a beating in the press this year. In May, Alex Pareene of Salon called the forums, which bring together people from the technology, entertainment and design fields, “a money-soaked orgy of self-congratulatory futurism” after the group refused to publish a talk on income inequality.
