How much is the Civil Rights Act worth? And would these rights be worth the trillions the banks received if one argued it from a worst case scenario position?

My opinion is that they are priceless. So yeah, even though things are not wonderful in the one instance, going backwards in the other instance would be the far greater detriment. I feel as though you’ve somehow convinced yourself that a price tag can be put on these rights.

That was great. I agree, endorse, support, and praise that quote, which is pretty unusual since usually Outraged and i get in the most spirited arguments.

Yes, our rights are priceless and we need to remember that a revolution gambles with the rights we have.

Is Ron Paul a racist?  I don’t think so.
Was he a racist 40-years ago?  I don’t know.

He is anti-establishment, anti-elite ruling class,
anti-war, anti-Patriot Act, anti-Military Industrial Complex,
anti-too big to fail, anti-corporate welfare.
So am I.

He’s a conservative libertarian,
and doesn’t believe in a safety net.
I’m a populist libertarian, who believes in the FDR WPA.

If we had an effective, efficient, competent federal government
of, by and for the people—I’d be for that kind of government.
But we don’t.

Ron Paul’s for shrinking our corrupt, big brother government
that ignores our Constitution.

I’m for getting rid of it via a Constitutional Convention to fix
this lousy system once and for all.

Keep the faith.

Robert Scheer, it isn’t often I disagree with you but regarding Ron Paul I vehemently do disagree. I imagine your economics background clouds your better judgement.

Answer me this:
How much is the Civil Rights Act worth? And would these rights be worth the trillions the banks received if one argued it from a worst case scenario position?

My opinion is that they are priceless. So yeah, even though things are not wonderful in the one instance, going backwards in the other instance would be the far greater detriment. I feel as though you’ve somehow convinced yourself that a price tag can be put on these rights.

Also, you make the same bogus political argument that Glen Greenwald made; claiming on the one hand, that it’s okay to disregard CLEAR FAULTY JUDGMENTS AND POSITIONS in the one candidate, but in the other candidate for some unqualified reason we should not give one ounce of leeway. Or that if reasoned “on the whole” one can’t determine which candidate is better overall….. I disagree. (Are you taking the position that Paul is better overall….?)

Ron Paul is not about stopping empire building, he is about isolationism. Those are two different things, but you skew the fact that this is the true nature of Paul’s “vision”. I surmise that the whole bailout catastrophe is not a done deal by any measure. But I guess we shall see. Paul’s “vision” of death by a thousand cuts is lethal, something Paulie’s seem to totally disregard.

A recent survey found that many people think Romney’s first name is:  Mittens.  If only.  With such a gentle first name, he might have more concern for people than corporations.

On the Judge in Arizona who wants to end Mexican
American education in Arizona, well, it is a
manifestation of the 7 of 10 Arizonans who support
the repressive anti immigration law enacted by the
Republican legislature.  The fact that the state is
so dominated by the Republicans speaks volumes in its
correlation to the anti immigrant miasma in our
state.. The example I offer is from the past during
Reagan’s State’s Rights (wink wink) movement.  Jesse
Helms and Strom Thurmond two rabid racist
segregationists switched from the racist part of the
Democratic Party to the VERY RACIST part of the
Republican party giving them the great advantage in
the immigrant bashing sweepstakes.  There is an obvious reason why this occurred since the Republican Party dominated by the Tea Party have become the party of hate, taking it away from Lincoln and Eisenhower and handing it over to Limbaugh and Hannity
The education
that the judge wants to eliminate teaches of past
offenses in Arizona and the nation.  and is an inclusive curriculum and does not preach the OVERTHROW OF THE GOVERNMENT as claimed by the critics.  These critics, led
by Doug MaCeachern of the Arizona Republic screech
and scream and call names over the Tucson Public
Schools’ curriculum that teaches about the history of
these outrages committed on Hispanics to this day.
They are examples of the continuing disrespect and
disdain for immigrants AKA Mexicans who are
exponentially the largest group of Hispanic
immigrants.  A clue, people, is when you hear phrases
like “I respect immigrants BUT (here it comes!)” then
they bash people who look exactly like me and my
ancestors and my children and grand children.  They
pooh pooh the fact that Texas, New Mexico, Arizona,
Californis, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, and Wyoming (and
small parts of other states) were taken away from
Mexico in an illegal expansionist war. Since then,
the Hispanics in these areas have been ostracized in
countless mindless ways.  All the Republicans of any
significance in Arizona have achieved their status by
savaging and demonizing immigrants AKA Mexicans.
appealing to the racist bent population fired up by
critics who exaggerate and outright lie about what is
being taught in the ethnic studies
