‘Cosmos’ Host Neil deGrasse Tyson to Creationists: Sorry, but Universe Is More Than 6,500 Years Old

Posted on Apr 1, 2014

We’re talking billions of years older, in fact—to the tune of nearly 14 billion years, but who’s counting?

For one, the astrophysicist host of “Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey,” space whiz Neil deGrasse Tyson, is adding up the numbers and ready to dish out some ancient wisdom from the great beyond—way past our own galaxy, anyhow.

During Sunday’s fourth episode of the Fox/National Geographic Channel “Cosmos” reboot, “A Sky Full of Ghosts,” Tyson takes on (and takes down) the creationist argument that the universe was created but 6,500 years ago, using evidence available to anyone with the ability and willingness to look for distant lights in the night sky. Check out the whole episode below.
