Mosque Mania Hits New York (Update)

Posted on Aug 22, 2010

Two rival rallies did a lot of shouting at each other in New York on Sunday, but otherwise kept things civil. Hey, this is America, where everyone has the right to express themselves, eat canned cheese and *gasp* worship as they please. Even Scientologists.

Update: Glenn Greenwald posted this video of things getting ugly:

This is very good, Yes the Americans are standing their ground NO Mosque, very simple, they learned from what they saw going on in Europe, lets see now, Islam problems in England, France, Germany, Switzerland, Holland Sweden, Norway! Also Islam problems in Australia, Philipines, China Russia, ALL OVER AFRICA, SO WHY NOT IN THE USA. Mexico has no Mosques- no muslims, hmm, but they have other problems. The mainstream media is told not to use the word Mosque, but communitee center, also they dropped the name, Cordoba house because of historical meaning of when Islam conquered Spain, built the first Mosque in Cordoba Spain and spread from there,BUSTED, now they use some number park place like monopoly. Anyway you look at it, it STINKS! Old Arab saying, “Keep your enemies close at hand, for a smile is worth a thousand surprises”, KABOOM! Allah AKBAR!

To Mosque or Not to Mosque

“I join those who have called for looking into how is this opposition to the mosque being funded,” she said. “How is this being ginned up?” Nancy Pelosi

After reading what the second-in-line to become president said concerning the planned construction of the famous mosque/not a mosque, Islamic victory/not a victory monument, Islamic community center in a building damaged by one of the suicide airliners I decided to investigate myself since I unwittingly found myself in opposition to all the pro-Islamic liberals who’ve now decided that if the right wing comes out one side of an issue then naturally they have to come out on the other side regardless of how strange it must be to be in bed with a religion that would quickly kick them out of bed as soon as they find them between the sheets.
I quickly discovered that my source of funding was somewhat limited by the fact that the economic recovery had not yet reached my pocket book. Was I against the mosque simply because I didn’t have a job? No. Was I against the mosque because the Imam was on a State Department junket to the middle east on what used to be my dime? No. Or was I against the mosque/not a mosque because it was a chance to agree (probably for the first time) with the majority of my fellow citizens? Definitely not!
I finally decided that the real reason I was against the mosque/not a mosque was because the President refused to comment on the “wisdom” of building the mosque/not a mosque in the location chosen by the Imam/Representative of the State Department. If the President can’t comment of the “wisdom” involved in this situation then there must be some information that hasn’t come to light and it would be precipitous of any citizen not in possession of all the facts to be in favor of building it when the President who has access to the largest and most powerful intelligence apparatus in the world can’t or won’t let us small people know whether or not it’s a wise thing to do.
So Ms. Pelosi, I’ve investigated myself to the best of my ability and I’ve come to what I consider the unhappy conclusion that it’s the President himself who has “ginned up” this controversy. This of course is not to deny the fact that in asking how the opposition was “ginned up” you should also take some credit for the “ginning up.”  And this was your intention, n’est-ce pas?

We can not have Religious Freedom if radical groups do not believe in Freedom for others and in fact believe their Religious opinion trumps the Bill of Rights.

It is dangerous to import people who hate our form of society and Freedom, but I say again it isn’t just the Islamists it is Protestant Christianity in its fundamentalist form and the Pope who if Catholics followed his madates would be unable to serve in public office, as they are threatened with excommunication if they administer laws that the church is against.

I have yet to see a moderate Moslem and the likelyhood that if there are any moderate that they would stand up to the mainstream of Islamic belief. We had a “get to know you” meeting at Mosque in our area and when asked “what do Moslems do about gays” the answer from the supposed moderate Mosque, was we kill them.” Why import a religion that has no basis in our history, but has continued stuck in the middle ages?

We need also to deal with the Christian Fundamentalists who wish to return to the Middle Ages. You can not preserve the right to believe if there is a majority of the population who thinks they can disregard the Bill of Rights.

I really don’t understand whats all the fuss about. There are so many things that are more “revalant”(excuse the grammar) to our existence as a nation than the building of an Islamic center near ground zero. Its just another distraction away from the underlying causes of unemployment, increase racism, anti-immigrant sentiment, this trillion dollar deficit, the new fascist policies of the GOP, attack on the middle class, two unnecessary wars, counter intelligent surveilance of our citizens, severe breach in a bipartisan government, may I go on…
