India is making life better, by any subjective or objective measure, for tens of millions of people every year.

This is an outrage! This will not stand!

The Naxalites are absolutely correct in fighting this heinous trend.

Feudalism forever!

I third the above comments; you can’t believe anything coming out of the Indian press about the Naxalite resistance.  I spent months in India and came to the same conclusion.

Arundati Roy’s recent writing on the subject is accessible to western readers.  Work through it; google any terms you’re unfamiliar with.  Particularly important is the case of Modi and his assent up the political ladder.  He’s supported by nationalist Indian immigrants in the US, many of whom hail from the state of Gujarat.

Check out this article by Indian journalist Arundhati Roy, a fascinating story about the guerrillas.
