Left, Right & Center
kcrw.com

The Republican Party’s high hopes may hang on Ron Paul’s son, Rand, after he busted his way onto the national stage with his big primary victory this week in Kentucky, but is he the man for the GOP job? Just who likes Paul the Younger, and who isn’t crazy about him, may surprise you on this week’s episode of “Left, Right & Center.” Also up for discussion: the Gulf of Mexico oil spill, Felipe Calderon, and the new financial reform bill.  —KA

We are launching a major overhaul of our comments section.

In addition to more robust spam filtering and moderation, new features include the ability to rate other comments, sort how they are displayed and respond directly via e-mail or in a thread.

Unfortunately, commenters will lose their existing Truthdig identities. It's a pain, we know, but on the plus side you will now be able to log in with a plethora of options, including Google, Twitter, Facebook and Disqus accounts.

Before launching this system we spent months in discussion with our top commenters. We listened to the feedback and we hope you like what we've come up with.

archivesDave, May 23 at 10:20 pm,

You quit answering.  Is that how you figure out a path?

You have a Left hand and a Right hand.  You have a Left side and a Right side.  You have a Left side of your brain and a Right side of your brain.  You have a Right foot and a Left foot.  There is nothing that is only one.  There is ALWAYS a left side and a right side.  There is a Left side and a Right side to politics, but you defeat yourself by thinking there is no left and no right.  Get a clue.

The Conservative Right in all forms of the media have tipped the scale through overwhelming use of military style propaganda too far to the Conservative Right, so there is a problem today that can only be remedied with Liberal balance from the Left, the Majority Common Populace, that do not want to get rid of Social Security, Public Libraries, Health Care for all as soon as possible, Medicare, Community organizations, Co-operatives, Unions, progressives, liberals, social organizations, socialists, and socialism, which is the Left.

Quit being so fearful of what the Right may or may not have done, and rally the Common Populace, the Liberal Wing of government to regain balance in our government.

Right now I would rather the “Marxist welfare state” succeed than the fascist corporate Dominionist slave state that is nearly formed now.

Rand Paul may not be a racist but some of his views would support them in their endevors to continue separate and unequal obviously, not just hidden as it is still now. [Look up red lining.] For me Libertarians were just too selfish and insular. They literally wanted islands unto themselves. An unhealthy mind set all too influenced by Ayn Rand who promoted it, that and the psychopathic mind set as the best possible way for humanity to go. I don’t know how far either Paul is in that area but one must consider it.

BP’s recent mega-disaster is as much of an “accident” as the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre.” BP is known for their lack of interest in protecting their employees and their facilities. So the only “accident” was when it happened not if, just a matter of time. The dispersent in a bad idea on many levels the first is making it more pervasive an polluting. It is better in thick clumps to retrieve. Also the compound they use is highly toxic. They drilled deeper than they said they would, didn’t follow the safety protocols either.

OK, here’s a new wrinkle:
Go to Wikipedia and look up ‘Bank for International
Settlements’....Now google their direct connection
to the present bailout of Greece and Europe.
The Rise of the Fourth Reich??? could it be???
Now google Dr Joseph Farrell and see what he has uncovered about all of this.

Martha,
I thought we’d been down this path together sometime past.
Until ALL of us maintain our focus on the real demons such as the Intl Bankster/Corporate Puppetmasters and
lobbyists from ALL sides and get off the Right - Left
bandwagon, we will continue to sink as per the Titanic
upon whose ‘ship of state’ we continue to arrange the
silverware.

Rand Paul is a Right-Winger, who will be led by the EXTREME Right if he wants to work in Right-Wing politics.  The alternative will be to spend all his money defending himself against trumped up charges, if no true charges can be found, which will be heard before their Right-Wing’s judges; therefore, Rand Paul will walk the Right-Wing line and vote in lock step with the corporate Right on all votes of significance to the 70% majority population, the populace, the infrastructure and the environment; that is who this Rand Paul guy is.

It is imperative the country stay to the Left and try to gain stability and avoid another onslaught of Right-Wing terror.
