‘Left, Right & Center’: Senate vs. CIA, Gaza Cease-Fire, the U.S. Abroad

The CIA spying on Senate computers is just one example of an Obama administration routinely getting caught with its hand in the spying cookie jar. Truthdig Editor-in-Chief Robert Scheer says on this week’s “Left, Right & Center” that “the Obama administration has been dreadful on this,” and he encourages it to stop the digital snooping and be more transparent.

Next, the panel tackles the role of U.S. leadership around the world. Is it fading? Do other countries take it seriously? Panelist Chrystia Freeland, a member of Canada’s parliament, says, “There’s a bad feeling about executive leadership in the U.S.” among other world leaders.

Meanwhile, the Gaza cease-fire has ended, and reports indicate Hamas has kidnapped an Israeli soldier. Yet, in traditional and social media, there’s been an outpouring of support for Gaza residents. Panelist Rich Lowry of the National Review says that the backlash against Israel “is the propaganda Hamas depends on. Hamas is a terror group that is awful for peace in the region.”

The panelists also discuss the prospects of the GOP in Congress moving toward impeachment.

Scheer, Freeland and Lowry are joined by Matt Miller, moderating from the center.
