‘Left, Right & Center’: Jobs, Budget, Murdoch, SpacePosted on Jul 8, 2011
This week the Labor Department reported that employers added a mere 18,000 jobs in June, and that the unemployment rate rose to 9.2 percent. The news is a blow to all who were hopeful that the nation’s economic recovery was gaining speed. “Left, Right & Center” regulars Robert Scheer, Tony Blankley and Matt Miller are on hand to discuss this bit of bad news—and more!— with guest panelist Mary Matalin chiming in. Have a listen. —KA KCRW:

You gotta give conservatives some credit though. Ever since William Buckley got rolling, they’ve had a standard playbook and Frank Lutz’s standard talking points to work from.
Liberals are too darned disorganized by nature and by choice to provide a consistent front.
Videotape does help. There was a clip played on Rachel Maddow’s show last night nailing now-Indiana-governor Mitch Daniels about the lowly administrative status of raising the debt limit. Daniels was W’s budget director at the time of the clip.
That conservative playbook only has enough room for current topics - none for recording their prior contradictory policies.

I faithfully listen to “Left Right and Center” and have done so for years as I value
Report thisthe balance of views and civility of the discussions. Still, I strongly agree with
others here regarding Mary Matilan. Her very presence coarsens the dialog and
detracts from any hope for an independent mind to consider truthfulness in the
views expressed. Matt Miller is intimidated, Tony Blankley is fawning, good old
Mary vomits patently false talking points. Whats a thinking person to think?

Mr. Sheer,
Report thisI know you’re associated with this program and may therefore, in good
faith, wish to promote it, but the last time I listened to it, Mr. Blankley and
Ms. Maitlin tag teamed you, hammering on a revisionist talking point,
claiming that the weapons of mass destruction justification was founded in
reality. Mr. Miller was mum until he moved to the next topic—and I was
utterly disgusted . . . because it was obvious that your colleagues had a
shared agenda: state and repeat the lie until it is perceived as truth. The
show is shit, and I think you should have nothing to do with it.
Yours truly,
JS

Is Mary Matalin for real? Why is such a dishonest partisan hack allowed to continue
coming on this show to spread easily discredited misinformation. Thank goodness
that there is pushback on this show from Robert Scheer, and to a lesser extent
from Matt Miller.
I almost always disagree with Tony Blankley, but he is far less egregious in what
Report thishe says that Matalin. You can at least have a conversation with him, and
reasonable people can disagree. Matlin, however, seems nearly incapable of
uttering an honest sentence. I’ll ask again: why is she allowed to return to this
show?
