Missouri congressman and Senate hopeful Todd Akin’s ideas on abortion in rape cases dominated the political conversation this week when the Romney campaign was just hitting its stride on the issues it wants to talk about: the cost of Obamacare and a lagging economy. 

By week’s end, Romney had unveiled his energy plan. Then came news that next week’s GOP convention may be fighting for airtime with another cable news staple: Hurricane Isaac, which is predicted to make landfall in Florida at about the same time delegates start gathering in Tampa.

David Frum of The Daily Beast joins Truthdig’s Editor-in-Chief Robert Scheer and co-host Matt Miller to discuss these matters and others on “Left, Right & Center.”
