‘Left, Right & Center’: Detroit Goes Broke and Zimmerman Goes Free
Posted on Jul 19, 2013
Truthdig Editor-in-Chief Robert Scheer and the other “Left, Right & Center” panelists discuss the Motor City’s declaration of bankruptcy, the neighborhood watch captain’s not guilty verdict and Boston bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev’s appearance on the cover of Rolling Stone.
Detroit’s bankruptcy deals a blow to the image of the U.S. auto industry. The former beacon of American hope and innovation now shows economic decline, corruption and arson throughout the city. Is there room for an enterprise zone to attract some new investment?
Is George Zimmerman’s release after killing a 17-year-old black boy a symbol of racism in the United States? Is the American justice system broken? Or did it do its job in an unclear case? The National Review’s Rich Lowry, who provides the perspective from the right, says it’s the latter.
Touré of MSNBC’s “The Cycle” and host Matt Miller join Scheer and Lowry on this week’s show.
