‘Left, Right & Center’: Debates Old and New, Newsweek and George McGovernPosted on Oct 20, 2012
A spirited and contentious second presidential debate took place just days before next week’s final encounter, which will focus on foreign policy. Will it be about China, Afghanistan withdrawal and Libya? Or will the candidates find a way to bring it back to economics and America’s financial strength around the world? Newsweek announced it will no longer publish a print edition after year-end, providing all of us with a moment to reflect on the new model of journalism. As former presidential candidate George McGovern fades away in hospice care, Truthdig Editor-in-Chief Bob Scheer reflects on McGovern’s life. Joining “Left, Right & Center” this week to discuss these matters and more is Josh Barro, new blogger for Bloomberg View, with the conservative perspective. —Adapted from KCRW by Alexander Reed Kelly.
