Reports about a rapidly transforming Egypt have dominated the week’s news, so it’s fitting that “Left, Right & Center” all-stars Arianna Huffington, Robert Scheer, Tony Blankley and Matt Miller make the subject their sole focus of this episode, discussing the protests and crackdown in Cairo as Egyptians battle for Tahrir Square.

How are the protests reverberating in the region? Can democracy work in the Arab world? And what are the implications for President Obama and U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East? Tune in below to hear what the show’s regulars have to say.  —KA

When you speak of American foreign aid, remember that most of it is weaponry. Hate to
think what the Middle East would look like if we brought any country up to what we
spend in Israel.

Question to Mr. Blankley: Would democracy in Egypt flourish if the Egyptian
Government to be allocated the equivalent per capita aid that Israel receives
annually from the US.

Israel’s population is est. at 6+ million and gets around $ 3 billion a year in US
military and economic aid. Egypt with a population of over 80 million gets $1.5
billion a year from the US.

Can such divergence in aid contributions affect recipients attitudes?
