Kucinich: A Prayer for AmericaPosted on Mar 6, 2012
Among the contests getting much more attention this Super Tuesday, Rep. Dennis Kucinich is fighting a primary battle in Ohio to stay in the House of Representatives. His campaign released this ad, based on a 2002 speech. Kucinich is running against fellow Democratic Rep. Marcy Kaptur. The two found themselves gerrymandered by Ohio Republicans into a single district. There are differences between the candidates, sufficient enough that former Republican presidential candidate Bob Dole endorsed Kaptur. —PZS Advertisement Previous item: Documentary on Teen Bullies Gets the NC-17 Treatment (Audio Fixed) Next item: Joseph Kony and the ‘Visible Children’ New and Improved CommentsIf you have trouble leaving a comment, review this help page. I am not religious. I am not even remotely “spiritual.” I do not believe in “the American Dream” (at least not the high-fructose-corn-syrup-version pushed on us today). I’m not really even patriotic…..and I don’t usually appreciate the “think about the children” sale pitch, but this ad really hit home with me.
It made me think of Kurt Vonnegut’s Slaughterhouse 5 in which he mentions how the other soldiers in Billy Pilgrim’s platoon felt a putrid disdain for anyone who believed in a loving Jesus…...My point being, when a true “liberal” such as Kucinich puts out piece like this, I know why I side with the liberals: there is something fundamentally genuine in hoping that there is goodness in the human spirit. On the other hand, I know why it is that I revile conservatives. To them, all this compassion shit isn’t profitable…...so why care?

gerard;
Connect the dots; Kucinich has been a thorn in Obama’s side during the health care debates, the attack on Libya, the drone strikes… Kucinich is the embodiment of the “looney left” Obama has nothing but contempt for.

When Joe Lieberman and a few Blue Dog Democrats held out, holding up ObamaCare, he said, “give them what ever they want to get this thing passed!” When the left tried to stand their ground and hold him to a public option (after he took single payer off the table from the start) he reveled himself as the “thug” he truly is!
Like it or not, Black people are “nuts” when it comes to Obama! He is more like a cult figure than a president. Obviously, after of 200 years of being told you are substandard, the reaction to this conman, (Obama) is understandable.
When the time came for the Democrats to do a little back room horse trading with the Republicans (redistricting); Kucinich became expendable.
Just as Obama orders the assignation by drone of US citizens without losing any sleep, this monster would not hesitate to use the political capital (he has yet to earn) with Black people to destroy Kucinich! Like or not, Obama is at war with the left.

The comments here generally trouble me. It’s the gerrymandering which ought to
be criticized, not Kaptur. The district is hers as much as it is Kucinich’s.
I have been a long-time supporter of Kucinich. I have great respect for him. But I
know something about Kaptur and consider her one of the few excellent members
of the House, too. She savagely attacked the bank bailouts and described what
happened as an ‘economic coup d’etat’. You can see her comments in Michael
Moore’s film ‘Capitalism: a love story.’
What is sad is losing EITHER of these people. But please don’t demonize Kaptur or
Report thisreject her because Dole backs her. Candidates are not responsible for the views of
people who back them, as we should all remember from 2008, right?

You don’t know that Kucinich was bitch-slapped. Kucinich is a
staunch liberal and needs to be re-elected. If anyone agrees, they
ought to send support for his campaign. I don’t pray, but I will do
all I can within my power to support Kucinich. I have no idea who
Kaptur is or what she did. Redistricting has done a lot of things bad
and good. There has to be a way to take care of moving populations
when it comes to House of Representatives. What needs to be watched
is that it’s done properly and legitimately. That entirely is up to the
people in Ohio in this case.
There are conflicting things said about where Kaptur’s loyalties lie. So
Report thisI will hold my opinion in reserve. But we all know what Kucinich stands
for: The People.

Interesting, I don’t see anyone mentioning Tom Donohue. He’s been gunning for Dennis for years and is almost certainly the major architect behind this.

Yes, with Kucinich in Congress it will be a very sad America. I worked on
fundraisers for him in CA. There were a lot of “smart” big name celebrities. I
met him and when he spoke I knew I had found the ONE to support. Of
course the GOP wants to get rid of him and perhaps Obama too. Rep
Kucinich is a true crusader for peace and the people.
Send some money to his campaign. I don’t know who Kaptur is but if Bob
Dole endorsed her you can sure she is really a Republican.
I want to know when the Democrats are going to get some backbone and

I am proud to say , I hope I helped to pay for this
Report thisad..An add of such a healing nature is what I would
expect from Kucinich.. This ad is every bit as uplifting as was Kucinich’s “Pray for America” speech… In light of Obama’s fear of
Aipac, the need for Dennis Kucinich is sorely
demonstrated.. Betcha , Kaptor would not stand down
to AIPAC’s largess.. And there is no fear that AIPAC will
contribute to Kucinich’s quest for peace.. A Congress
without Kucinich.. Makes it all the more futile and
hopeless to even be politically involved.. Why.?
Honesty and goodness is so rare in that institution..
Being that the Congress is a part of the ’ best
government money can buy.’. I do suggest A Congress
without Kucinich is not such a bad thing.. Its all bought and
paid for anyway.. Kucinich came from Journalism. To
which he could return.. A journalist with Kucinish’s
insight can be of just as much value, Maybe even more
; than an honest Congress member in a dysfunctional
Congress.

There should be no contest in this race. Dennis Kucinich is the voice of the people. Marcy Kaptur is backed by top Republicans and by weapons manufacturers for a reason. If the Democrats don’t come out for Kucinich over a Republicrat like Kaptur, then why should we ever come our for the Democrats again? If Kucinich doesn’t win, lets all write in his name for President in November.

Marcy Kaptur has been there a long time and is well liked. You can talk to her. Dennis Kucinich is the much needed voice on the left that needs to be heard. Russ Feingold also held out for the public option and voted no for health care because it did not have the public option and then paid the price of losing his seat.
We have to be careful not to send mixed messages to our leaders.

During the Health Care debates Kucinich was one of the last to hold out for a “public option”.
When it came to the “Blue dog” Democrats Obama caved consistently; giving them everything they asked for to get their vote (watering down the health care bill). When Kucinich made his stand for the left, Obama invited him aboard Air Force one, Bitch-slapped him into submission and traded away is district to the Republicans to make an example of him! The sad part is the Black people in Kucinich’s district would “throw him under the bus” in a heart beat on Obama’s say so, even after all the years of loyal service he delivered. In short, Obama played the hell out of the “race card”.
