Gun toters are facing challenges everywhere, from Chipotle Mexican Grill to the National Rifle Association itself. Tuesday, the “Daily Show” host points out just how bizarre things are getting in America when the organization that most loves guns goes against its own interests to block smartguns from entering the U.S. market. Smartguns, which would fire only for a person wearing a radio controlled watch, provide a safer alternative to the current “dumb” option that can easily be turned against a user by an assailant and has been known to cause tragic accidents in the home. Apparently, however, to some conservatives, this sort of intelligent safety measure seems absolutely absurd. Who has time to think “Where’s my bracelet” when there’s an intruder in the house, chuckles a paranoid Fox News host mocking the precaution. Let’s just say Stewart gets the last laugh on this one.

Meanwhile, the Chipotle restaurant chain has had to go so far as to expressly ask clients to “leave their guns at home” thanks to a couple of men in Dallas who decided their trip to buy Mexican food was too dangerous to endure without their assault weapons (or, rather, decided to throw a gun rights demonstration inside a Chipotle). It’s “bad news for Americans who like to hunt and kill their own burritos,” Stewart explained.

The gun insanity in this country simply knows no end.
