How Mother Jones Got the Romney Video ScoopPosted on Sep 20, 2012
David Corn of Mother Jones magazine talks about how he teamed up with James Carter, grandson of former President Jimmy Carter, to get the footage posted this week of Mitt Romney insulting half of the American public before a crowd of campaign donors. Carter put Corn in touch with the person who anonymously posted a video clip of Romney speaking at a May fundraiser in Florida. After Corn and the source became confident in each other, the two talked about how to release a longer version of the video in a way that protected the source’s identity. The clip went up on the Mother Jones website within a couple of weeks and instantly had a dramatic effect on Romney’s campaign. —Posted by Alexander Reed Kelly.
