Hawking: Human Salvation Lies in SpacePosted on Aug 9, 2010
Despite what some global warming naysayers might still insist, it’s not looking like planet Earth is going to be a super-comfy place to reside indefinitely. Now, superphysicist Stephen Hawking has suggested an alternative: space! Hawking apparently recommends a multiphase program to launch our greedy species spaceward. Some of us, he says, might be able to hang out here a little while longer, barring any major nuclear or accelerated ecological cataclysms. According to Hawking, “if we can avoid disaster for the next two centuries, our species should be safe as we spread into space.” —KA Big Think:

I felt it was propagandistic and that it played into the hands of the malevolent psyops operators in our Military-Industrial Complex.”
I missed this crap, not having cable. What a typical human attitude, let’s get the aliens. He sounds like he’s totally whacked and a creep to boot. Why is anyone paying him any attention?

I’m with Hawking.
After harnessing the great Pacific and Atlantic garbage patches, a human drive towards building space stations and harvesting the space junk is a greater endeavor than building armaments and placing them in storage.

No thanks, Steve, but I’ll just stay here on terra firma to hear the sounds of birds and enjoy the fragrance of flowers.

As an idiot-savant, i suggest the following would happen:
as soon as US develops bombs or missiles that cannot be stopped once thrown or missiles once in flight and also protection from alien bombs-missiles, US would destroy much of asia, all of afrika,c. and s. americas.
Then would shipp all blacks to afrika and latinos to c. and s. americas and use them as labor for whites!
Now the proof for this scenario actually occuring: Why else make ever ‘better’ killing machines and why such a military might?
And 9.11 happened anyway. How, why it happened we still don’t know. Nor do we know who did it!
Report thisSo, as we said, palin and 9-11 had been the best thing that happened to the onepercenters.
This would allow onepercenters to eliminate 5 billion + nonpeople and nonpeoples. tnx

When I was a young girl, I dreamed about space travel to other worlds.
Now that I’m grown and have seen how our species has made such a
miserable mess of our once beautiful world, the thought of invading other
planets just chills me to the bone. Only the super rich and the military can
afford to leave Earth.
Can you imagine how they would treat their new home?

Hi Tobysgirl,
Thanks for the attaboy. I admit to some perplexity
about Steven Hawkings’ recent celebrity stints as
popular guru. I guess there’s some ego gratification
to being a gripping presence on a TV show. But I
think his recent pronouncement warning humans to not
take kindly to alien visitors from outer space, as he
presented on the History Channel, was extremely
disappointing to me. I felt it was propagandistic and
that it played into the hands of the malevolent
psyops operators in our Military-Industrial Complex.
If there is one thing I wished we could reverse in
our elite’s drumbeat of citizen terrorization it is
that FDR had it right, the only thing we have to fear
is fear itself.
Getting the public agitated to fear a vicious attack

Ray Duray, you say it beautifully.
From this, we can see what happens when a person becomes nothing more than a brain in a wheelchair. We are meant to move and be in contact with the Earth, and Stephen Hawking has lost sight of the connection we need to have with the planet that gave birth to us. He is totally dependent on human technology and it has warped his intelligence.

Nor sure if people are getting the point abour Mr Hawkins He is just telling us that mankind will need to move from earh eventually to look for another place to stay that maybe be in 200, 500 1000 years from now who knows but we will eventually have to find a new place he we are to survive

George Carlin did a wonderful piece on us exploring deep space, on my behalf I would like to tell Mr.Hawking to try and turn his genious mind back to Earth, there is still a lot of issues here, and he can surely help.

Hawkings is everyone’s favorite popular scientist. His pronouncements of late about aliens not having interest in us anymore and ‘going away’ and humans making a new home in space are just simplistic and bad theory that is not supported by fact.
Is he still a real scientist?

The guy is out of his freaking mind! There is a good reason the word lunatic was invented. Looking for a place in outer space while mother earth is destroyed is sheer insanity!

There is no way to save this planet…when we have 6.7 billion people, all breeding more people who then pollute this planet on every level…and can’t seem to stop.
“Civilization” has ensured that there are no more “controls” on overpopulation such as “wars and disease,”....and furthermore…
...in such “civilized” countries as the US…for the past 50 years, the government has been “paying” low IQed, dependent, nonworking, drug addicted, unskilled, unmarried women to breed, breed, and breed some more.
Welfare has ensured that there is now a huge population of unselfsustaining, genetically inferior and bizarre people…who simply have not inherited the genes for morals, an education, a work ethic, or analytical thinking… who are running rampant in the streets in most large cities. And more is to come as they have more such children…and they “vote!” Now ask what they are going to vote for?
Worse…the US govt turned its head to Anchor babies…of which 60,000 babies of illegal aliens are born just in California alone each year. How many more are born in the US each year? We don’t know.
What does anyone on the Marxist Left, or the Blind Right…think will be the consequences of millions and millions of illegals invading this country and who will vote for socialism, welfare dependency, and don’t respect American laws?
This country is being overwhelmed and we are committing cultural and racial suicide, and as a result, we will be destroyed. Obama is just the first step in our destruction.
I know a group of physicists in a Think Tank in Houston, Tx…who have performed computer models of the future of this planet. It is going to die a miserable, slow, polluted, diseased death…and there is nothing anyone can do about it. All the recycling, etc. is just popping a pimple on a diseased body.
What the Think Tank researchers plan..is to leave this planet, and be very careful whom they take with them. One factor will be those chosen with a minimum of an IQ of 145, and who have attained a PhD.
Its over with and Steven Hawkings and many others know it. Where will be go? The Moon may have water, and Mars appears somewhat viable with lots of terraforming. The reseachers know that there is no choice…this planet is dying.

What a bizarre thought. If we’re collectively too stupid to preserve our only natural habitat, we shouldn’t threaten other habitats. If Hawking’s intent is to simply have a few people living in space so our species can persist a little longer—why?
We continually crap in our own bed, so to speak, to the point where we’re destroying the entire planet. Let’s do the universe a favor and let it end here.

Hawkins has demonstrated the ultimate conclusions of the dyed-in-the-wool consumerist mentality; thinking of our planet as a disposable item.

Dear Professor Hawking is a theoretician’s
theoretician. And his “ivory tower” appears to be
some future theoretical improvement on today’s
rocket propulsion systems.
As a pragmatist, I’d just like to point out that the
current cost to lift an astronaut into Earth orbit
runs about $10,000 per pound for the ride up into
space. Say an astronaut weights 150 pounds and
requires 14,850 pounds of support and supplies for a
month in space. That comes to 15,000 x 10,000 =
One Hundred and Fifty Million Dollars.
Extapolate this one month joy ride into the lifetime
it would take for a space crew of 4 to travel to
Earth’s nearest neighboring star beyond the Sun would
put the costs up into the multi-billions. Just for
four people. And there are 6.8 Billion of us on the
planet.
Frankly, I don’t know why Hawking isn’t committed to
an insane asylum for coming up with such preposterous
suggestions.
If we want to save the species, the answer isn’t to
Report thishurl an experimental handful of our genetic material
across the Universe. In order to save ourselves, we
better start to think of ways to save the only planet
that will ever be the home to humanity.
