Afghanistan and the Big Lie

Viceland Today

Italian journalist Olivia Poli joined John R. MacArthur, president and publisher of Harper’s Magazine, for a stroll through New York City’s Washington Square Park, where they had an unusually candid conversation about the so-called drawdown of the U.S. war effort in Afghanistan.

MacArthur is an undaunted critic of the Obama administration. When Poli asked about official assurances of progress in Afghanistan being reported in the press, MacArthur said plainly: “Petraeus is lying. ... He is a deceiver, and that’s what they do. This is what’s been going on in the American military and the national security establishment since the ’60s.”

His criticism and other writing appears regularly here. —ARK

Perhaps a critcal and in-depth reading of Zinn’s history of America will reveal that this nation was built on myth and lies. If this is what is meant by “exceptionalism” then the hope that this nation will ever come to grips with the reality of its crimes is unattainable! FREE BRADLEY MANNING!!!!

Mr. MacArthur is a keeper. I like him.

Don’t be so shallow about the nice lady.

It was very brutal and sad when she asks so sincerely: “Why don’t they tell the truth?” I imagined then that general Petraeus jumped out of the bushes like the bogeyman and said: “You can’t handle the truth!”

Then Z.Z. Top was there, and they were all: “she’s got legs, and she knows how to use them”

It is difficult to say who or what “spoke more freely” in this video.

Very interesting. I agree 100% with Mr.MacArthur statement and I agree with
bigjohn756: Ms.Olivia Poli is certainly beautiful, and distracting.

That was very interesting…I guess. I’ll have to watch
it again to see what was said. I am afraid that I was
severely distracted by Ms. Olivia Poli during my first
viewing.
