Glenn Beck Has a Point

Email this item Email    Print this item Print

Posted on Jan 20, 2011

Excuse us while we hold back the dry heave and acknowledge that buried in this obnoxious, childish rant of Glenn Beck’s, there’s a valid point lurking.

Below, Beck comes unhinged after playing a clip of CNN anchor John King apologizing because a guest used the words “in the cross hairs.”

King’s apology is typical of the reaction to the shooting in Arizona and the speculated (and unproven) connection it may have had to nasty rhetoric.

Now, Beck is clearly defensive as one of the leading voices of nastiness on our airwaves. His network, Fox News, is home to the all-stars of the genre and his colleague there, Sarah Palin, was singled out in the aftermath of the shooting.

But he’s got a point. Whatever the Arizona shooter’s motives, it seems absurd that a guest on CNN using an innocent turn of phrase should generate an apology. Furthermore, our media is much more violent, as Beck, in his own way, points out, than our language. Where do we draw the line? Should we ban movies and literature that feature assassination or murder for fear of inspiring the mentally unbalanced?

But as much as Beck has a point, he also misses it. There is a world of difference between using the words “cross hairs” and directing your followers, as Palin did, to a map of targeted congressional districts with the missive “Don’t Retreat, Instead - RELOAD!” Those are not remotely the same thing.

Beck, using baby talk and pantomime, cautions CNN not to insult its viewers by treating them like idiots. We suggest he do the same.  —PZS

People need to wake up the fact that Glenn Beck is the biggest ASS in the world.  This closet homosexual is simply another opinion pushing charlatan who is a product of mormon cult theology that he mixes with cherry picked parts of Catholicism, New Age Religions and his personal core as a washed up, dry alcoholic.  He is a pretty messed up individual who possesses absolutely no personal integrity.  And for the record, he is a Mormon and not a Christian.  The two are not the same as one is a cult and the other is a religion.  This makes Glenn Beck one very twisted screwed up moron who sold his soul to the lowest common denominator of personal stupidity.  And for the record…the religion of Islam has far more in common with Christianity than the mormon cult.

Glenn Beck can be summarized simply as a dry mormon alcoholic who never got the counseling required for alcoholics.  Those are his only qualifications for anything in life as he never went to college and definitely knows nothing about American History or the US Constitution.  Because he does not possess a single ounce of journalistic integrity, this makes him the perfect abortion poster child for Fox Network. Considering the fact that Beck’s personal views are extreme Marxist Libertarian, his form of patriotism is false and he is a person who has no real substance or depth.  He is definitely not a true conservative.

Just as with that sex crazed control freak (Joseph Smith) who duped impressionable people into his home made belief system called mormonism, or that 5th grade graduate (Charles T Russell) who duped ignorant people out of lots of money and started the Jehovah’s Witness Cult, this over-paid idiot (Glenn Beck) got in bed with Satan a very long time ago.  It’s really all about the money as hate, lies, promotion of ignorance and fear mongering are the only marketable skills that Glenn Beck has on his side.  The only way he survives is from developing and growing a flock of very impressionable idiots who do not understand the difference between a cult and a religion or truth & facts versus lies.

Glenn Beck consistently demonstrates all the unstable behaviors of a dry alcoholic which include grandiosity, judgmentalism, intolerance, impulsivity, ADD, indecisiveness and blindness to truth. In short, Beck, Limbaugh, O Reilly, Hannity, Palin, O Donnell, Coulter and others like them frequently pervert truth, history, facts, religion and the US Constitution when they open their big mouths.  Beck is simply part of a national league of pseudo-conservative idiots who make big money by selling lies and half truths to impressionable fools who occupy the lowest levels of society.  You know the type…tea baggers and registered republicans who are condemned to repeat the mistakes of history.

Glembek may have a point. As a matter of fact he may have several points. But none of those points excuse him for deliberately pimping to the oligarchy and deluding the masses. Glembek is a cog in the corporate machinery of oppression.
Goebbels was in the same racket. Only suicide saved Goebbels from the gallows.
Perhaps one day Glembek will pay the price for his lies.

Alex’ pathetic little bleat, “God bless Glenn Beck. He knows what he’s talking about.” can only stem from the mind of a chimpanzee. It sounds so hyper-phony. It’easy to tell that neither (a) Alex, nor (b) Glembek nor (c) God (whoever He is) has the slightest idea of what they are mumbling about. Is there some way to amputate gullibility?

Tobysgirl -

I may not have an ounce of sanity since I watch Glenn Beck from time to time. I find
his rants fascinating. As I sit there in the comfort of my calm, warm, and serene
living room I’m also aware that there tens of thousands of folks out there who, at
this very minute, are watching too. Folks who take this stuff seriously. Who believe
they are actually receiving a history lesson - as in things that actually happened. In
the past with real people. That it is not all the mere bubbling in a fevered mind
which can’t distinguish between an acid high and a children’s animated cartoon.

So I sit there like the rabbit mesmerized by a cobra, staring into its eyes. Yes, you
must be right. I have no sanity. Why else would I do this to myself?

Despite Mr. Becks personal shortcomings, and that I find his positions on just about anything poorly thought out, there are much, much worse that him.  Listen to A.M. talk show radio.  Compared to many, Mr. Beck comes acrross as a mildly cranky Rotarian.

But having said that, the brilliance of your First Amendment- surely the most important legislation in the history of the human race since the Magna Carta (And I’m not an American) - gives him the right to express his opinion to any one who cares to listen.  Tell me if I’m wrong, but my interpretation of the Amendment does not give any one the right not to be offended.

The best counter to Mr. Beck et al, is a well articulated, forceful, positive and small L liberal argument.  Don’t let these people own the airwaves, or control the agenda.  But I think it’s still important to recognize their rights, that they are American citizens,  and to keep the personal slurs out of it all.  Its the message, not the medium.

Having realized that no one with an ounce of sanity or compassion listens to the likes of Glenn Beck in the first place (unless they are taking notes), I believe the right-wing media creeps are more symptomatic of America’s viciousness than actual instigators. I don’t know how anyone can listen to people screaming or talking gibberish, as Beck does, for any length of time without being mentally unstable in the first place.

But then I don’t understand the fondness for bullying and humiliation in my country. Why is everyone always whining about bullying in schools while watching crap like Survivor? Has anyone ever caught two seconds of Nancy Grace (name correct?)? I can’t stomach humiliation as entertainment for even two seconds. We need to seriously think about what kind of people basically watch vomit being broadcast and ENJOY it.

Although I have no love for Sarah Palin, TD - and both the MSM and AM - continue to repeat a complete lie.

There was ZERO connection between Palin’s creation of the infamous “crosshair” map and her use of the phrase “Don’t retreat: reload!”  That comment was made to Dr. Laura Schlessinger in a Tweet after Schlessinger quit her show after being castigated over using the word “nigger.”  It was THIS that Palin was responding to, using the infamous phrase (admittedly stupidly and incorrectly) re Schlessinger’s First Amendment rights.

There was almost nine months between Palin’s putting the crosshair map on her site and her TOTALLY UNCONNECTED comment to Schlessinger.

It is time the media acknowledged this.  There are plenty of reasons to dislike both the map and the comment.  But connecting them is nothing less than yellow journalism.

Peace.

A moderate degree of self-restraint is necessary if we are going to live together with liberty and justice for all.  Lack of a moderate degree of self-restraint weakens others’ self-restraint.

One’s own personal definition of “moderate” depends upon each individual’s experience of what it means.
In spite of dangers, people prefer freedom of speech because the lack of freedom of speech is much more dangerous.

Speaking of Glen’s pointed head (skimohawk) has anyone
seen the photograph of the Tucson assassin wearing a

resemblance, or is it the other way around, to the

As much as I despise Beck I actually agree with this. Too much emphasis is placed on the least important things. People will be driven to violence because Beck has them convinced that this person or that is seriously evil and literally destroying America, not because of his dark jokes or Sarah Palin’s website graphic. Maddow and Olbermann do that a lot and it drives me crazy!
