Trump’s Media Blitz: Cynical PR Stunt for “The Apprentice”?Posted on Apr 28, 2011
That’s what MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell said on his show last week, when he admitted to his viewers that Donald Trump’s recent “presidential tour” was never anything but a PR campaign by NBC to promote the next season of Trump’s show, “The Apprentice.” But the announcement hasn’t had much of an effect, as The Donald is still out and about, being taken seriously in some quarters. —YL

Why thank you, Robert.
I really love the phrase “whether you are aware of it or not.”
Thanks again for making my day.

Whether you are aware of it or not, that seventh paragraph of yours hits it out of the park in describing a number of the more odious hall marks of totalitarian movements throughout history. The triumph of fiction over fact and the Big Lie. We are headed for some very dark places.

What the media is doing with Trump is dangerous.
Again and again they are giving free advertising to people who are not suited for the presidency.
They covered George Bush in his campaign when in was obvious to anyone paying attention that the man lacked the experience and intellectual curiosity to be president.
They continued their fawning and torturing of Sarah Palin after the 2008 race, ignoring the fact that all publicity is good publicity and that Sarah Palin would be a very dangerous, delusional, superstitious, ignorant and terribly bad president.
Now they are doing the same thing with Donald Trump, ignoring the fact that this man is more qualified to run a house of prostitution than to run the country. He is dangerous because he does not give a damn.
The news media is being terribly irresponsible. Even if Donald Trump runs, they should not cover him. Instead, they should focus on candidates, who, though they may have less money, have better experience and better ideas for running the country.
But no. Modern journalists must pretend history does not exist. They must pretend books do not exist. They must pretend what a person writes or does not write is unimportant. They must pretend science does not exist and by default that everything is subjective and that a lie is indeed a relevant point of view and not simply a lie—all of which prevents them from gauging candidates by their ideas and forces the media to cover the candidates based on the amount of money they’ve raised.
Hey news media people here’s a thought: if everyone hates you it could be that you’re doing a fair and balanced job and therefore everyone has a grievance.
Conversely, it could be that you really do suck and everyone from every perspective can see it.
Except you.
Good luck with that. And thank you for taking your constitutional privileges into a weapon that you use to threaten the free speech of everyone. Just keep yelling “fire” in the crowded theater of our democracy and everything will work out fine.
