Do We Need to Worry About the NDAA?Posted on Jan 8, 2012
Ian Masters asks Dahlia Lithwick, a contributing editor at Newsweek and a senior editor and legal correspondent at Slate, to dig into the NDAA and report on whether our civil liberties are as threatened as they seem to be by the defense bill President Obama signed on New Year’s Eve. I’m MORE than astonished at the LACK of uproar by US citizens with the passing of the NDAA 2012.
Do you not care if your country evolves into a fascist state?
Do you not care if your own military can arrest ANYONE, US citizen or not, inside or outside the USA borders, on suspicion only, lay no charges, refuse due process and habeas corpus, incarcerate indefinately in what amount to internment camps of WWII, WITH no access to lawyer or courts?
DO YOU NOT CARE that your President SIGNED this legislation into LAW late on New Year’s Eve while the rest of the country wasn’t watching?
WHAT THE HELL IS MATTER WITH YOU AMERICANS? DO YOU HAVE A DEATH WISH?
This kind of TERRORISM makes the 9/11 type look like child’s play.
And NO ONE seems to care.

Any interpretation of this law is irrelevant. The fact that this bill was even considered by Congress, let alone signed into law, shows an explicit and unambiguous assault on the fundamentals of democracy.

Oh my God! Dahlia Lithwick, your tortuous “interpretation” of the National War (Defense) Authorization Act could be stated in one simple sentence: “I agree with the ACLU criticism of Obama’s signing of the NDAA.”
