Neoliberal capitalism values young people only as commodities, social philosopher Henry Giroux says, and teachers, whose work is to encourage the growth of minds, have some of the best opportunities to defend them. Giroux, who holds the Global TV Network Chair in English and Cultural Studies at Canada’s McMaster University, reprised this, his primary theme, in a free public talk at his school in early March.
