As Turkey’s deputy prime minister apologized for the aggression against anti-government protesters, a video that appears to show Turkish police breaking windows and gassing a home was uploaded to CNN’s iReport website.

It seems the video was shot by civilians through the window of a house or apartment across the street from the targeted residence.

“Around 2 am,” writes contributor xzsharp, “a group of police starts smashing windows of houses and starts firing gas bombs inside the houses without any order or warrant!”

It is not known whether the police had orders and a warrant.

Meanwhile, Bulent Arinc, who is standing in for Recep Tayyip Erodogan while the prime minister is out of the country on a trip to Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia, called the crackdown “wrong and unjust,” The Guardian reported. It was unclear however, whether that was the government line. Erdogan, who has undermined statements made by his ministers in the past, has referred to the demonstrators as “looters” and fringe extremists.

One 22-year-old man died during a protest in a city that borders Syria, but the cause of his death was not confirmed by major media outlets.

Speaking on Tuesday, Arinc said: “In that first [protest] action, the excessive violence exerted on people who were acting out of environmental concerns was wrong and unjust.”

“I apologize to those citizens,” he added
