Dennis Kucinich on the ‘Fiscal Cliff’Posted on Dec 28, 2012
During his last week in office, eight-term Democratic Rep. Dennis Kucinich says tax increases on the middle class and spending cuts will “slow down the economy” when investment in jobs and infrastructure is crucial. “We’ve been going in the wrong direction,” Kucinich says. “Why haven’t we been talking about stimulating the economy through the creation of jobs? We’ve seemed to accept a certain amount of unemployment as being necessary for the proper functioning of the economy, so that for corporations it will keep wages low. That is baloney. We’re creating our own economic vice here that is entrapping tens of millions of Americans.” —Posted by Alexander Reed Kelly. ‘Democracy Now!’: Advertisement Previous item: What’s to Learn From ‘Lincoln’?
