‘Democracy Now!’: Are Israeli Settlements Legal?

Posted on Jul 11, 2012
Screen capture from Democracy Now!

“Democracy Now!” hosts a debate inspired by the determination of a panel appointed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that Israel’s settlements in the occupied territories are legal.

The panel, headed by former Israeli Supreme Court Justice Edmond Levy, also determined that Israel is not an occupier. These findings reject the long-held determination of the international community that Israel’s occupation of the Palestinian territories is both subject to and in violation of international law.

Below, Jonathan Tobin and Ali Abunimah debate the issue.
