‘Daily Show’: Best Leak EverPosted on Jul 28, 2010
It seemed like nobody in a position of power in Washington thought that the shocking details about the war in Afghanistan, our “allies” in Pakistan and other gems from this week’s WikiLeaks melange of madness were all that “new.” But Jon Stewart brings us back to the truly scary reality of it all in this clip from Tuesday’s “Daily Show.” Try this one on for size, for example: “We have ostensibly put a hit out ... on ourselves!” Also: Lady Gaga truly is everywhere. We’ve been on mandatory overtime for about a year now. Everyone’s burned out on the 6 day weeks but they threaten us with dismissal if we don’t comply. Apparently they’re willing to sacrifice a few experienced and hard working operators in order to scare the rest into submission.
Meanwhile, people are losing their homes because they can’t find work anywhere.
We spent hundreds of billions to bail out the investment banks. They used the money to buy out their competition and payed themselves big bonuses for doing such a good job.
Tony Hayward just wants his life back.
The Repugs are opposed to extending unemployment benefits because it will increase the deficit, unlike the war I guess.
Somehow, the fact that we send money to Pakistan so the ISI can support the insurgents who keep this whole thing going so the military industrial complex can maximize their profits by working some of us to death while the rest starve, doesn’t seem all that absurd.
