Even though the U.S. military’s top brass specifically called this week for the “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy to be repealed, that didn’t stop certain Republican congressmen from putting on an impressive show of jackassery in response. Winning top honors among that latter group, at least in Jon Stewart’s book, was Sen. John McCain, but Sen. Saxby Chambliss and other fellow GOP types pitched in with the old, completely unconvincing “troop morale” argument. John Oliver investigates this timely matter further in the “Daily Show” clip featured below.  —KA

More evidence that we should have let the South go when we had the chance.

One reason they join the military is to get out of town.

At first, I’m thinking…this skit isn’t going anywhere funny, but it just gets funnier as they continue their argument.  These are very clever people.

Sure, Senator McCain may be what you, Truthdig, calls him (“jackass”) but Justus Raimondo of “antiwar.com” is not a jackass when he asks all enlisted persons including gays whether they “do not tell” when they have witnessed war crimes committed by their units. Raimondo correctly states “you have no right to participate in mass murder” and concludes “don’t ask, don’t tell, don’t go”.

Mr. Chambliss (By the way, please change your first name sir!  It among the most idiotic first names I have ever heard.  Saxby hehehehehhe isn’t that funny heheheheh my name is Saxby.  Sort of like my name is Newt.  Is this a future trend among Republicans to have stupid first names?  Even Sarah Palin named her kids after a city, a sport and a branch of mathmatics.  Pathetic!) should do research on ancient Sparta.  Hopefully, he would modify his opinion after such resarch.

It is sort of ironic too that the same people who could not stand Bill Clinton (so much so that they called for his impeachment) sure liked his “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy.  Also, I think Mr. Sessions should learn to speak English properly.  He seems to be unaware that his is using improper tonal inflections when speaking - which further illustrates his ignorance and, to be frank, his stupidity.  I wonder what made John McCain have such a change of heart.  He must be hanging out with Sarah Palin too often.

Jon Stewart said, “That seemed like a blatant flip-flop by Senator McCain.”  You think?

I wonder why gay people would want to join the military at all, despite any desperation to make a living.  Defend the USA social belief that homophobia is acceptable?  Makes sense to me.
