I didn’t know that! If so, Powell gets back SOME of the respect he lost with me for his perception. It certainly is accurate.
Actually doesn’t get any of it, he compromised and played along with the “fucking crazies”. So what if 30 or so, obviously false statements were removed from the script, does it make the statement delivered on the floor of the UN assembly truthful? No, they lied all along and Mr.Powell was in the same pack of assholes who dragged your country into a nightmare.

hello. Mr. Powell was an early critic of Oboymamma,
Report thisbegging him to slow down. he was correct in his
analysis, and now he has a difference of opinion of the
man. this good military spender versus bad military
spender equals more military spending, no matter how
you spin their political loyalties. the military budget
is the worst abomination of our deficit. trotting out
shining examples of what killing can do to make you be
all you can be is sad, and un-American. go back into
the shadows, Mr. Powell.

Inherit the Wind—Your last paragraph says it well!
One report shows that Powell was already suspicious of the script that the WH wanted himn to read at the UN. He is reputed to have said,“I’m not going to read this S***”, and then had the State Department analysts research and remove over 30 items in the speech that were false. Unfortunately, most of what he then presented was also wrong. What sealed his fate was a reported phone tap that showed him refering to Cheney, Wolfowitz, and Rumsfeld as,“Those F***ing crazies”.

Colin Powell Stands by His Man
Duh !
Colin Powell is a political opportunist & expert fecal
Report thisvomiter, & doesn’t have the class to admit his mistakes
and tell the truth. To say that the system isn’t broken
& blame the other party for obstruction is nauseating.

“Enemy” is a good word. Cheney engineered the series of lies that played of Powell’s inherent loyalty to the administration he served and made him look like a fool and a liar to the world. Worse, Cheney made Powell, as Secretary of State, clearly impotent, and the nation and the world knew it.
Powell’s misplaced sense of loyalty kept him in the cabinet far more than it should have—he should have resigned as soon as he found out that he had been “played” on the Iraq WMDs.
