‘Colbert Report’: The Tea Party in Four MinutesPosted on Oct 22, 2010
It’s hard to believe that the tea party movement is less than 2 years old. Just think of the cast of colorful characters we’ve gotten to know in such a short time—from old favorites repurposed for the job like Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann to newcomers like Christine O’Donnell. Stephen Colbert relives the magic in this special “Colbert Report” mash-up. —KA Colbert Nation:

DYSFUNTIONAL DEMOCRACY
It is somewhat amazing to witness (from afar) the Tea Party phenomenon that is unfolding in the GNoE (Greatest Nation on Earth).
A group of mindless twits have captured the nation’s attention. This fact alone says much about how mentalities work in the GNoE. People with not the slightest ability to confect a wholesome thought and not even a cogent political platform, thus dabble in witlessness and ... become national heroes.
Why did we never elect Mickey Mouse as PotUS? Mickey was at about the same intellectual level. Intellect is not what it is all about? Oh, wow! I got that wrong, did I?
Yes, that must be it. After all, we did elect Ronald Reagan, twice. And Lead-head, twice.
Yep, intellect is not what it’s all about. A fact that guts any silly notions I may have about how smarts are essential to running anything so complex as a nation—which is supposedly why we elect representatives to our Congress.
So, in a few weeks time we shall be back to gridlock in LaLaLand on the Potomac. Where the Dems will do to the Replicants what the Replicants have been doing to the Dems.
Onward, fellow compatriots, to new lows in Dysfunctional Democracy!
