Sarah Palin’s bus tour of key American historical sites is mystifying much of the mainstream media, but Stephen Colbert caught on to its significance immediately, asking: “Won’t you help Sarah Palin learn basic facts about U.S. history for just pennies a day?”

Well, won’t you? Turns out there’s a “Donate” button for that, if you can believe it. Here’s Colbert’s take on Palin’s latest antics from Tuesday night’s “Colbert Report.”  —KA

New and Improved Comments

We are launching a major overhaul of our comments section.

In addition to more robust spam filtering and moderation, new features include the ability to rate other comments, sort how they are displayed and respond directly via e-mail or in a thread.

Unfortunately, commenters will lose their existing Truthdig identities. It's a pain, we know, but on the plus side you will now be able to log in with a plethora of options, including Google, Twitter, Facebook and Disqus accounts.

Before launching this system we spent months in discussion with our top commenters. We listened to the feedback and we hope you like what we've come up with.

Please direct any problems or concerns to us via our contact page.

Apparently all the money in the world won’t make this dolt any smarter…yesterday she informed us that Paul Revere rode his horse to alert the British that we were strong and we were armed.

Will someone PLEASE shut this woman up?  Every time she appears on TV, the IQ of the country drops 30 points.

With the MSM following her like a pack of puppies, Palin now plays the press like a fiddle and has exacted her revenge for the hatchet jobs done on her when she ran for VP w/McCain.

Ironic, she’ll probably outearn both Katie Couric and Charles Gibson this year and going forward.  And, yes, it IS about the money.

She knows she can’t be President, nor does she want to be.

Instead, with the election still nearly 15 months away, Palin is content to play “gotcha” with those who fear her candidacy (relax, that will never happen), and “decoy” to draw media fire away from the remaining GOP field of fledglings.

Palin’s taking her obscene and hate-filled rhetoric on
the road for some coast-to-coast finger pointing which
will surely continue to damage our country’s world
view.  Historically, her speeches are causing more harm
than good.  I shutter to think what she would do and
say with the power allotted to our Presidential office.
I drew up a visual commentary of the effects of such
reckless propaganda on my artist’s blog at
