N.J. Gov. Christie Won’t Hear It From Shariah ‘Crazies’

New Jersey Governor's Office / Tim Larsen

Gov. Chris Christie, right, congratulates newly appointed New Jersey Superior Court Judge Sohail Mohammed.

At a news conference in late July, New Jersey Republican Gov. Chris Christie loudly defended his appointment of a Muslim lawyer to a state judgeship, saying that conservatives’ fear of shariah law “is crap.”

Months ago, Christie nominated Sohail Mohammed, a Muslim-American lawyer who represented many of those who were wrongfully detained by the FBI shortly after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. A great admirer of Mohammad’s work and long-time friend, Christie said he was proud to help put the second-ever Muslim-American on the bench in New Jersey. —BF

Hear Christie’s endorsement of Mohammed and his refreshing opinions about shariah law below.

What a refreshing politician is Gov. Christie, one shining beacon of sanity amidst the cacophony and venality of most of them.

Now if only the hater, esperantominoria, would crawl back beneath that rock…...

Hello Sinbad:
I never said millions of Muslims wanted to cut
off a thief’s hand. But if they really believe in the
Koran they have to accept it.They don’t,then
they are not good Muslims.

Ontario and Quebec in Canada

A few years ago they outlawed Sharia law.Just like
that. The woman responsible for outlawing it in
Quebec was a Muslim woman. She was a bad Muslim
but she was a Muslim. In that case, according to
Islam, she is in danger of hell.

Okay smart ass in reverse! Tell me how a tiny minority of Muslims, 5-7 millions only, mostly secular, who only have one representative in the House, will be able to impose Sharia on the overwhelming majority in a democracy?

Sometimes, ignorance and bigotry are the worst dangers to a society, and you, being one of those, are more dangerous to America than the 1.5 billion Muslims in the whole world!

Get an education first before you type your little crap!

Sharia Law is based it part on the Koran, which
Muslims believe it is literally from God.

Sura 5:38:

“As for the thief, both male and female, cut off
their hands
. It is the reward of their own deeds,
an exemplary punishment from Allah. Allah is
Mighty, Wise
.”

You can verify here:

It has 10 translations(6 by Muslims,4 by non-
Muslims),plus the text in Arabic with Latin
letters
:

OK,so then how can “fear of Sharia be
crap”,according to Christie?

“a longtime friend”. Ah.
Republicans seem to get selectively less crazy when it’s their daughter who’s a lesbian, or their friend who is a Muslim.

It is kind of sad that no more than simple reason, a little common sense, and a refusal to pander to bigots makes the man a superhero.

Heres a thought.Imagine if you imposed Sharia law only on Wall St. and politicians in Washington. How many of them would be walking around missing arms and tongues.I bet you’d have a majority.

Who are you and what have you done with our incompetent, arrogant, dishonest TeaParty darling, Gov. Chris Christie?

And could you keep doing it, please?

Thank you Governor Christie for calling this sharia law hysteria for what it is - a bunch of crap, spread around by
malicious propagandists like Pamela Geller and David
Yerushalmi, among others, and demagogic politicians like Newt Gingrich. This is a poison that can only have detrimental affects on our country. Gov. Christie just went up several notches in my book. It’s a shame that more politicians are not so forthright in standing up to these buffoons.

Finally a Republican that practices true democratic decision making.

A far cry from the Herman Cains, the Rick Perrys, the Michelle
Bachmanns, the Mike Huckabees, the Santorums et all.

It’s good to see a republican leader speak out on this issue. I had given up hope that any reasonable dialogue could come from the right, but perhaps there are a few with morals left out there. Good for you Gov Christie.

A politician, Republicans nevertheless, with some guts and real brains making his point against fear-mongering and bigotry directed at Islam and Muslims!

Good for your soul Gov. Christie, good for America, good for humanity; but bad for the bigots, fear and hate mongers of all times and places!

Do you hear me, you bunch of bigots, who for over a week now are still chewing on your bad bigotry on another Truthdig thread under “Fundamentalist Kills!”
