Bill Clinton Welcomes Back the Old Mitt RomneyPosted on Oct 11, 2012
“I had a different reaction to that first debate than a lot of people did,” former President Bill Clinton said of the Obama-Romney face-off in Denver last week. “I thought: ‘Wow, here’s old Moderate Mitt. Where you been boy? I missed you all these last two years.’ ” “But I was paying attention in the last two years,” Clinton continued, suggesting he wasn’t fooled by the candidate’s conceit. The former president was referring to Mitt Romney’s departure in tone from the mad, tea party-fringed conservatism that became an engine of the Republican Party over the last four years, to a more middling appearance aimed at appealing to voters who currently find themselves at the undecided political center. —Posted by Alexander Reed Kelly.
