Beleaguered Rep. Weiner Endures Prolonged Twitter ScandalPosted on Jun 2, 2011
With the proliferation of social media outlets, there are that many more new ways for politicians to create PR disasters for themselves. Take, for example, the object lesson provided by Rep. Anthony Weiner, whose unidentified crotchy Twitpic scandal predictably dominated the week’s news cycle—and his strategy for dealing with it didn’t exactly help, either. —KA AP via YouTube: Advertisement Previous item: Why Our Broken System Sends the Wrong People to Prison Next item: ‘Colbert Report’: The Debt Ceiling Is Just Like A Sneeze Guard New and Improved CommentsIf you have trouble leaving a comment, review this help page. Maybe Weiner should resign? Actually I believe it should be up to his constituents,... the sad thing is Weaner was a good supporter of liberal ideals and his constituents, in fact he was stellar in his standing up against the Republicans, he was like the guy who said what everyone else wanted to say but refrained to be saying because they lacked the backbone or ideals. Sadly he is also now a disappointment weaner and all!

Funny, no posts to this thread since Weiner came clean. The truth truth has a way of shutting up a lot of people.
Weiner is a clown, too lacking in character to resign immediately as did Chris Lee, who resigned within hours.
Can a man who lies for a week about such an outrageous lack of judgement still have a career in congress? Absolutely. Lying is not considered a character flaw anymore, especially in politics.
Hard to understand the previous poster who stated, “Republicans are known to be quite prolific at telling untruths”. As though what? Democrats are not known to be equally as prolific? Blind partisanship is a type of delusion akin to blind religion, though it worships ideologies instead of gods.
But ignorance is ignorance, and only honor, truth and good character are worth defending. Someone posted that Weiner was a very smart man, but smart is over rated, I think. Weiner lacks good character and good judgement, and is not fit for government service in my opinion.

It is rumored that Weiner is in negotiation with Oscar Myer for leasing the Werner mobile during the next campaign.
Of course Mannie it is all BS, either way a more than odd publicity stunt by Mr. Weiner himself or as you state a college prank finally catching up with him or a political smear job of little worth.
Recently Republicans getting caught in similar situations questioning some levels of morality, and other numskulls sending out photos supposedly sent under questionable situations, requires retaliation, phony or lies it does not matter, what ever is necessary, Republicans are known to be quite prolific at telling untruths.
When one gets down to it, this is a direct concentrated diversion from reality and used to avoid the real problems and issues of the day.
Though my sophomoric side, finds it a bit humorous.

A little education for the uninformed. His name is Weiner, not Wiener. These
are both German names, maybe more popular among German Jews. The proper
pronunciation of Weiner is “viner” and the proper pronunciation of Wiener is
“veener”. Of course Americans are free to pronounce their names any way they
want, so many mispronounce their German names (or any other ethnic group
they come from) so they are no longer recognizable. For instance the name
Stein is properly pronounced as “Shtine”, not “Steen”. There never was an
Eensteen or any other kind of Steen in Germany. The scientists name was
Einstein as in “Ine shtine” and the proper pronunciation for the name
Finkelstein is “Finkelshtine”. The same goes for all names the contain the word
“Stein” within them. For Americans, the “v” and “sh” pronunciations were
simplified to “w” and “s” - Weiner and Steiner were pronounced “Winer” and
“Stiner”, but over time sloppiness changed these pronunciations to “weener”
and “steener”.
Wien is the how the city of Vienna is spelled and and pronounced in German.
Report this“Wiener” is a type of sausage that originated in Wien or Vienna. Wein is how
“wine” is spelled in German.

I would add that this smacks of the kind of thing that O’Keefe and Co. did with Planned Parenthood, ACORN and NPR, and that Breitbart did to Shirley Sherrod. In fact, am I the only one who finds it amazingly coincidental that Breitbart was the person who launched this story in the first place?

The most obvious hatchet job since the taking down of Elliot Spitzer (who actually did something wrong - though the timing of that news, and its overall effect, were not accidental). [N.B. It is interesting that Clinton was impeached for a blow job; Spitzer was forced to resign due to prostitution (and, yes, hypocrisy), and now Wiener is in trouble for a “sex”-related matter.]
Even if the photo is Wiener, the idea that he sent it is beyond ludicrous.
And Leo:
Not only is Wiener not an “ignoramus,” he is almost always “the smartest man in the room,” and ranks with Clinton and Kucinich among the smartest politicians around.
Peace.

Geeze, if only Obma has demised Osma the week weaner’s weaner showed up.
We had a hot dog vendor in the town of Soggy Bits, who originally named his hot dog stand, Franks hot weaner’s, but abruptly changed it to Franks, Franks for some unknown reason.
Weaner did not handle his weaner problem with due diligence and I must admit it is a slow news day, except Sara Palin wants to have a pizza lunch with the pope when her bus passes through the vacuum.
If I was running for congress with the name weaner, I would change my name from Werner to something people could remember and really sink their teeth into?

This “partisan” nebbish Weiner is exactly what’s wrong with our political system today. An insipid, smarmy ignoramus whose squeaks, bleats, and ululations pass for passionate advocacy in today’s trivial mediaocracy. The sooner he goes the better this country will be.

I guess that cocky, acerbic, sarcastic, kvetchy Weiner has been taken down a few notches.
No high horse for him anymore.

From Weiners website:
Now I understand why his name being pushed out there for name recognition purposes. Instead of him being a local New York politician, a small obstensibly created issue is being blared everywhere media resonates.
There is no such thing as ‘bad press”.

Only Wiener didn’t create the disaster and it’s debatable if anything he did afterwards could have stopped the resultant mediagasm. As evidence I submit this article.
