Were These Bizarre Videos Made by the Arizona Shooter? (Update)

CNN reports that Jared Lee Loughner has been taken into custody as the suspected shooter who killed six people in Tucson Saturday. One of our readers pointed us to a YouTube account opened in October in that name.

There are five videos, the first of which was posted in November. They are embedded below in chronological order, starting with the oldest.

We cannot confirm that this is the YouTube account of the same person arrested in connection with the shooting, and we have asked YouTube to provide us with more information. We will keep you posted.

[Thanks to reader Aaron Ortiz.]

Update: AP is reporting that the YouTube account appears genuine. Loughner also had a MySpace page (which was taken down) on which he reportedly posted a note before the shooting asking his friends not to be mad at him.

what’s worse, Loughner doing it in Arizona or an American president doing it
in Panama, Granada, Chile, El Salvador, Haiti, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Palestine,
Vietnam or New Orleans?

“This world rejects me
This world threw me away
This world never gave me a chance
This world’s gonna have to pay

I don’t believe in your institutions
I did what you wanted me to
Like the cancer in the system
I’ve got a little surprise for you

Something inside of me, has opened up it’s eyes
Why did you put it there? Did you not realize?
This thing inside of me, it screams the loudest sound
Sometimes I think I could

Burn”

This guy has been described as a “political extremist”.

Everyone else seems to think that he has a psychiatric condition.

All I know is that the numbers in these videos relating to the mother ship are not accurate.

Let’s not just start forcing people into mental hospitals please.

The shooter was one of two people to have subscribed to Giffords YouTube account.

Note that while he is clearly psychiatrically ill, it is difficult to diagnose someone without a full organic workup, family history, history of drug use, etc.

At this point, he appears to have multiple risk factors for psychiatric symptoms and acting out.

The fact that no one committed him for a full psychiatric evaluation despite his isolation and obvious symptoms, or restricted him from firearms, is disgraceful and fully reflects on our incompetent society and systemic inhumane treatment of others.

Definite insanity, signs of disorganized thinking patterns, paranoia, and delusions. I am going to vote for schizoaffective disorder of the bipolar type because the videos also seem expressive of a manic episode, but its impossible to know.

A perfect candidate to be the arrowhead.  American terrorists seem to be exactly the same as terrorists in the Middle East and Central Asia, only they have a different “context” of beliefs.

I’d take all of this with more than just a grain of salt. Anybody can create a youtube account and pretend to be whoever they wish.

The government ‘knew’ who did what, and why, concerning the 9/11 attacks quicker than this. Call me a cynic, but it’ll be interesting to watch how this shakes out in terms of spin and civil liberties. This was a terrorist act, and it seems to me that someone always acquires more power by exploiting or executing terror.

No, this is not a well thought out insanity plea.  I sincerely doubt this kind of half-cogent/half-fallacious logic can be artificially duplicated with such eerie mistakes in logic.  Since he is attempting syllogisms, that’s the only reason I bring up logic.

If this is a well thought out insanity plea as one of the commentators suggests, then there is something at work here much deeper than this kid.  However, I’ve seen a lot of literature that borders on this kind of paranoia - especially from the New World Order/Illuminati club.  Unfortunately, I believe they are right in some small fragments, just as I think there are elements in this video that are not altogether incorrect in certain lights.

The stress that he puts on the infinite number line originating in the Julian Calendar during the Roman Era is a highly autistic sort of behavior.  It seems to bug him a great deal that we would term a year “0.”  Furthermore, he seems to think the Earth is the center of the Solar System?

I don’t know, perhaps a well made insanity defense.

But, at the same time, if there isn’t a specific motive against these specific people and yet he is sane as someone who thinks these videos are an insanity defense - then it is unlikely that he would have killed them isn’t it?

It seems the act itself betrays the insanity barring evidence that there was a motive behind his act.

However, I wouldn’t rule out the idea of a puppet master behind him.

He seems schizophrenic, definitely delusional. I’m not a professional either, though. A lot of the statements seem like philosophical proofs. He also seems to be against the entire government, not any one party or side. I guess a lot could be read into any of it, but in the long run, the videos, like the murders, are senseless.
It does bother me, also, that he criticizes other people’s grammar when he makes so many errors of his own.

If the profile is that of the young man arrested today, he lists disturbing film as his favorite video. In it a US flag is burned in slow motion by a man wearing a hoodie and a black plastic bag as a tunic. That video was uploaded by a different user, “Starhitshnaz” but the words in the video are very similar to those in Jared’s. I have a feeling that both profiles are his and that it is Jared himself in the video. The background music says “let the bodies hit the floor”.  I had to mute the sound to watch it; it unnerved me.

The profile says Jared went to Pima Community College, and that he lives in Tucson. It would be very unlikely that there were two Jared Lee Loughner’s in the same city. But sadly, there may be many mentally unbalanced loners who could repeat this.

My sincere condolences to the families of those who were killed today. No words can restore your loved ones to you.

I am far from being a Psychiatrist, but these videos
look like someone who struggles to distinguish between
intrusive thought, imagination and reality.
