I watched it and I don’t see him sitting in “stunned silence”. If anything he tried to dominate way too much of the conversation.
He didn’t look like a fool, he did look like he was often disgusted. I felt that this disgust with the nonsense he was hearing took away from his ability to debate the issues in a polite mannor.
When an older man shows such extreme imptatience, you have to wonder what issues he’s dealing with mentally. People don’t normally start out like that in life but personal situations, physical problems, personal issues, mental issues can lead to that.
If he is going to debate radicalized “progressives” who are tossing out politically correct garbage about why it’s good to leak important secret programs in the middle of a war on terror, then he needs to accept the fact that the Bush hating radicals get a turn to speak and they are going to speak a lot of nonsense supporting treason in time of war as a way of getting at Bush.

Too bad I missed that line. I watched the show a short time, but was disillusioned that the show was so heavily overpopulated by conservatives. Two Wall Street Journal staff (Priest and Harwood), Bill Bennett, William Safire, and moderated by Andrea Mitchell who is married to the former chair of the Federal Reserve. No ‘liberals’ there, all representatives of the power establishment. How about a serious presentation of different views.

Bravo Dana! I was just waiting for Bill Bet-It to tear himself away from the casino to give us another of his sanctimonious lectures. Can’t wait for the sequel to The Book of Virtues—maybe it will consist of poker and blackjack tips?

Bennett is a hypocritical GOP lap dog and always has been. His holier than thou demeanor, always with that look on his face that “no one but he can think” is disgusting. That constant clasping of the hands, sneer, head shaking, makes anything he has to say irrevelant. One wonders why he continues to be asked to appear on ANY show, left leaning or right leaning!

Classic case of a school yard bully getting it thrown back in his face. He was squirming, making faces, and FOR ONCE, someone smacked him back a little and he didn’t like it.
Happy 4th,

Yes, we should applaud the use of ad hominem rather than legitimate argument. And people wonder where discourse has gone in this country…
