Nobel Committee Secretary Explains Why Obama WonPosted on Oct 9, 2009
Perhaps Geir Lundestad, head of the Norwegian Nobel Committee, knew that there would be questions about President Barack Obama’s Peace Prize win, but regardless, he’s ready for the biggest one—why Obama?—in this interview conducted and posted by his Nobel colleagues on Friday. To sum up the main reason Lundestad considers Obama a worthy pick, and not just a choice indicating wishful thinking on his committee’s part, he points to how the president “has produced an entirely new international climate” since taking office, which Lundestad calls “a concrete achievement” in and of itself. —KA YouTube: Advertisement Previous item: 'Left, Right & Center': Nobel Surprise; the Dollar's Down Next item: Glenn Beck Goes to War Elsewhere: . Crimes of the State Blog, October 12 at 1:30pm,
The Right-Wing Conservative EXTREMISTS are trying to make a mockery out of the Nobel Peace Prize because Goldwater, Reagan, Bush I and Bush II, Newt Gingrich, Rush Limbaugh, Glen Beck, Ronald Wilson Reagan—their chief ideological henchman—together with all of their Right-Wing Conservative EXTREMIST minions were not even considered for a Nobel Peace Prize, and the World as a whole supports President Obama getting the Nobel Peace Prize because the World as a whole is looking forward to President Obama reversing the destructive policies of Right-Wing Conservative EXTREMIST governance.
The Right-Wing Conservative EXTREMISTS are carping about President Obama getting the Nobel Peace Prize for no other reason than that they are jealous and realize that the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to President Obama in the hope that he would reverse Right-Wing Conservative EXTREMIST policies both Nationally and World Wide.
The Right-Wing Conservative EXTREMIST Movement is making one last gasp before the death rattle emerges from its collective throat that is much like the Battle of the Bulge was the last desperate act of the German Nazis in World War II.

After receiving the Nobel Peace Prize, Obama has escalated the AfPak war again but sending another twelve thousand troops to Afghanistan. Without announcing it to the American people.

These Nobel clowns have made a mockery of the word “peace” for a century now. They awarded unrepentant mass murderer Teddy Roosevelt the prize back in the day. Apparently because the name sounds a lot like “noble” in English, we’re supposed to take them seriously. They tossed away any hope for credibility in my lifetime when they awared Kissinger the same prize.

My intent was to say that I had hoped for unification under Obamba, but what I think is happening is a more intense polarization of the left and right political spectrums. I do not advocate left or right, as I am a middle of the road person politically. I do not see the country coming together as the left and right are very firmly entrenched and will rarely budge at all.

I am not pre-judging, I am just wondering, because where I had hoped there would be a unification under Obama, what I am seeing, in fact, is an expansion of the polarization. Just like dancing, it takes both sides to continue polarization. It cannot be blamed solely on one side or the other. Rhetorical name calling and blaming does not help

While I agree that what Obama has done in recent months to help change the
International climate is admirable and praiseworthy—it is in and of itself
certainly not worthy of a Nobel Peace Prize.
The niggling element that most people are missing here is that the deadline for
applications for nominations for the prize was Feb. 1, 2009. And that means
President Obama had only been in office for 12 days. How on earth could
*anyone* be nominated for such a prize with less than two weeks of activity on
the international scene? Normally, years of dedicated service towards a cause
promoting peace is required. But twelve days?
Even if it will be true in 2-3 years of dedicated service in which President
Obama ended up helping to tremendously improve the International climate
and promote peace, what’s the rush with awarding this now? It should be clear
that such a quick awarding with very little to show for it (remember 12 days in
office before being nominated) would only serve to compromise, in the minds
of many, the credibility of the award and of the awarding body.
It’s painfully apparent that international politics are at play here. And perhaps
there’s also an element of public perception management in the wake of strong
public controversy relating to economic reform, healthcare reform, as well as
the continuing wars abroad.

It is pretty plain from listening to the above video that there was NO MISTAKE whatsoever in the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to democratic President Obama, so perish that thought.
But, of course, the autocratic Right-Wing Conservative EXTREMISTS - and those playing like liberals and moderates on this blog, are Hell bent on destroying democratic President Obama, and won’t accept the facts that Obama’s actions have been approved to be constructive without destructive intent and in the best interest of peace, instead of destructive with destructive intent, as has been the case for the last eight years of the autocratic Right-Wing Conservative EXTREMIST Bush administration.
The United States must steer clear of another autocratic Right-Wing Conservative EXTREMIST, like George W. Bush, and all the autocratic Republican Party has to offer is autocratic Right-Wing Conservative EXTREMISTS similar to George W. Bush.

BluePunk,
Sorry you missed my daughter’s connection to the discussion at hand. It is this: When she moved out of the house, she moved in with people who thought and acted like her (took drugs and bummed off their parents) It took a long time for her to realize that the “new climate” felt better, but was not actually better for any one involved. It took a change in her behavior to correct the relationships and bring her life to a productive, happy one.
So far, Obama has changed the “climate”, but this is only an illusionn of getting better, a feel good thing only. We feel a little better, but all the bad, destructive behaviors are still there, on all sides. It feels good to call names, pick sides, bash Rush and Beck and Obama and Pelosi and Palin and whoever, but the bad behavior is still there, ON ALL SIDES!!!. Americans, Muslims, Jews, Republicans, Democrates, CEO’s Unions, Acorns, Rightists, leftists, etc, etc, etc, etc. Where is the real progress???

I feel the need to comment on the fact that conservatives in Europe, which is a whole different breed from our own inbred conservatives, actually recognise honest effort when they see it. And that’s not just a nod to the fact that it’s been many, many years since any president from this country came across that way to anyone in Europe. That’s just the way it is.

Judging from some comments here, the scorn for Europe in the hearts of some Americans runs deep. Americans have been told, and have told themselves and others that they are “special” and “exceptional” for so long that they believe it. Many have not been outside the country, many have not studied history or sociology, and simply do not “relate” to foreigners. This is no different from coutryside people in other countries where education and exposure are limited. The problem created by this isolation is a loss of feelings of comradeship and empathy. Too bad, in a world being drawn together more every day by transportation and communication.
Report thisOf course Europeans and others recognize this limitation and show both amusement and pity when it is on display, as in this Nobel award. If you watch and listen carefully to this video you can recognize this problem in all its complexity and its tragic implications.

Obama has an impossible job.
The Bush administration had so tarnished the image of the US in world public opinion because of the way it advanced US “interests” that it became necessary to scrap the brand and put brand Obama forward to polish the image a bit. The problem is that it has to be done without significantly changing US policy or redefining US “interests”. This can work for awhile, both at home and abroad, and may give the ruling class a bit of breathing room, but this political Dale Carnagieism will fail in the end. It already is.

DaveZx3, yes you can sleep easier at night in this new climate. Obama has toned down the HATE that Bush filled our lives with and the international community as well. Only those sleeping in a hole somewhere or feeding on a Rush Limbaugh diet would think otherwise. Sorry for your life struggles and your daughter’s but where is the connection to this discussion? Your rant n’slap of “leftist/socialist” is without warrant and just proves the point: we do not need a name-calling president with an attitude of an 9th grade bully. To that end, please spear us your libertarian-paranoia.

I suppose you can blame her addiction on Obama as well…afterall, isn’t it his fault we’re in the worst economic situation since the Great Depression? Maybe if we continue to leave the financial institutions to monitor themselves, keep prisoners who still haven’t been charged locked up in Gitmo indefinitely, continue doing nothing about the environment or where we get our energy from, and continue to allow health insurance and drug companies to decide who gets access to health insurance coverage, surely our situation will fix itself.

WOW!! Now I know why Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize. He has “produced an entirely new international climate”. That explains it all. I can finally sleep peacfully again, he world is safe under Obama-Climate.
When my youngest daughter got hooked on drugs, it got so bad, I had to kick her out of the house when she turned 18. She moved in with a druggie boyfriend, and I remember her saying, “it was like living in a completely new environment” What she meant by that was, no one held her accountable for her actions anymore, and it brought great relief to her.
I get the feeling that the international community is relieved that they have a fellow leftist/socialist in the US presidency now, so they can breathe easier, for some unknown reason.
The difference is, I was able to remove my daugher and her behavior from my presence, pending her change of attitude, (which she eventually pulled off, and is now a very productive, drug-free member of society welcome to the house any time).
Is there any way I can move Obama out of the house so he can move in with his new “international community sweethearts” until he changes his attitude and starts putting America first?
